The local disposal guide

Will the city
take it?

Maple Valley contracts its curbside collection to Recology King County, and large items leave on an on-call bulky collection scheduled ahead by phone. Each household can clear two bulky items a year at no extra charge before the per item rate applies, so a couch, a mattress, a washer or a refrigerator is booked rather than simply left at the curb. Mattresses, appliances, metal and clean wood are also handled at the King County Bow Lake transfer station, electronics are recycled free through E-Cycle Washington, and small electronics, batteries, oils and tubes go out on the curbside special item route.
