Fairbanks splits disposal between two governments. The City of Fairbanks Public Works Department runs the curbside collection utility inside the city limits, where bagged household trash, bundled brush and a separate scheduled large-item trip are the residential options. The Fairbanks North Star Borough runs the landfill and recycling facilities at 455 Sanduri Street and 1855 Marika Road, and the borough transfer sites are reserved for borough residents who live outside the city.
Bagged household trash is the City of Fairbanks core collection service. Bags must be tied and covered, and each bag is limited to 40 pounds.
