The city collects large appliances as a separate scheduled trip, and the borough lists household appliances such as washers, dryers and stoves with regular solid waste at the Solid Waste Facility.
City cost & eligibility
$105 for oversized garbage pickup, per trip, pre-paid. City of Fairbanks residential garbage account, arranged with Public Works. Appliances that hold refrigerant, along with freezers and air conditioners, are excluded from the city pickup and go to the FNSB landfill.

Get it ready
Call the FNSB Solid Waste Facility before hauling an appliance that holds refrigerant, and keep it out of the normal curbside bags.
Call Public Works first and confirm the exact items and the current prepaid trip fee. Keep the items away from sidewalks, fences and the normal bag pile, and leave refrigerant appliances on their separate borough route.
Tarp or secure the load before leaving, keep lumber, pipe and cable shorter than 8 feet, and arrive in a passenger vehicle, pickup truck or a two-wheel single-axle or four-wheel double-axle trailer. Prohibited items belong at the recycling and household hazardous waste facility, not in the waste load.
Use a permitted, accessible outdoor spot. Arrange the move out of your home, keep shared access clear and follow your confirmation’s readiness instructions. Check with your building about access or staging limits before booking.

Dropcurb picks up appliances that are already disconnected and accessible outside at ground level. Arrange uninstallation, utility disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Use a qualified professional for gas, hardwired or plumbing connections when needed. We handle loading and haul-away from the outdoor pickup spot.
Can I book if the delivery company did not take my old appliance?+
Yes. Dropcurb pickup is separate from buying or installing a replacement, so you can book removal on its own. Select the old appliance, choose a pickup day and arrange for it to be disconnected and accessible outside. If your new delivery is still ahead, confirm the retailer’s haul-away arrangements before booking a separate pickup.
