Construction debris removal in Dothan: start with the item’s collection rules, then choose the arrangement that fits.

The city refuses construction and demolition debris, and its August 2026 ordinance proposal goes further: building materials except minor owner repairs, contractor-generated debris, landscape debris, dirt, rocks, concrete and bricks, and eviction, move-out and estate clean-out debris would all have to be removed by the owner or producer at their own expense. Two private permitted construction and demolition landfills appear on the city's own landfill page.
The handoff matters
Trash collection covers yard material such as leaves, limbs and grass clippings plus bulky items such as furniture and appliances, in one pile per residence. Stack it neatly at the curb rather than in the street, leave room for the boom truck, and keep the pile clear of hydrants, utility poles, signposts, mailboxes, water meters and transformers. Limbs are limited to 5 feet long, green waste is stacked separately from bulky items, and a pile the crew judges excessively large may be left behind.

The ordinance revision package presented on August 4, 2026 would extend that list to building materials except minor owner repairs, contractor-generated debris, landscape debris, dirt, rocks, concrete and bricks, tires and vehicle parts, eviction and move-out debris and estate clean-outs, and hazardous refuse, all of which the owner or producer would have to remove at their own expense. The same package proposes a minimum fee for collecting noncompliant material.

No. Construction and demolition debris is on the city's refused list for curbside collection, and the August 2026 ordinance proposal adds building materials, contractor debris and clean-out debris to the material the owner must remove at their own expense. Local permitted construction and demolition landfills are listed on the city landfill page instead.Official guidance
Dothan publishes no residential route for construction, demolition or clean-out debris and states that the owner or producer removes it at their own expense, so a private permitted landfill or a container company is the local option and quotes the load. There is no municipal collection schedule for this material. The city landfill page lists Omussee C and D Landfill at 4541 Kinsey Road, phone 334-671-8844, and Rosehill Landfill at 242 New Hope Road in Midland City, phone 334-983-6576, both permitted for construction and demolition debris, and neither publishes a gate rate on the city page.Official guidance
Environmental Services at 281 Complex Drive, Suite 1 handles residential garbage, trash and recycling questions, missed collections, additional carts and the city landfill, at (334) 615-3820 or publicworks@dothan.org. The office is open Monday to Thursday from 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM, and Friday crews handle missed collections only.Official guidance
The city publishes a holiday sanitation schedule because garbage, trash and recycling days are often affected. In the 2026 calendar, Juneteenth on Friday June 19 and Independence Day on Friday July 3 are regular schedule weeks, while Thanksgiving week from November 23 and Christmas week from December 21 shift Monday and Tuesday pickups to the Monday, Wednesday to the Tuesday and Thursday to the Wednesday, and no recycling is collected in either of those weeks.Official guidance
Recycling is voluntary and limited to cardboard, mixed paper, plastics 1 through 5, aluminum beverage cans and steel cans, placed loose rather than bagged. Carpet, furniture, electronics, glass of any kind, Styrofoam, yard waste, needles and hazardous material are prohibited, and the city sends those prohibited items to the municipal landfill on Burkett Road for special handling instead.Official guidance
