When & how
Put the mattress or box spring out on the scheduled weekly trash day, and not more than 24 hours before pickup. Trash collection starts as early as 1:00 a.m.
Get it ready
Keep the mattress inside the weekly 2.5 cubic yard limit and clear of the carts, sidewalks, streets, hydrants and storm drains, and keep it separate from electronics and paint, which are not part of the trash pile.
One pile per week per household, capped at 2.5 cubic yards of trash, lawn or limb debris, which is about a full-size pickup bed loaded level, plus one large item. Mixed materials and black plastic bags are refused, only the first 2.5 cubic yards of an oversized pile is collected, and an oversized load may bring additional charges.

One pile a week, 2.5 cubic yards maximum, no mixed materials and no black plastic bags. Electronics, paint cans, oil and antifreeze containers and garden pots do not go in this pile, and an item the department has not confirmed, such as exercise equipment, should be cleared first.
