When & how

Get it ready
Do not put a refrigerator, freezer or air conditioner on the curb, in the garbage bin or on the bulky pile, because the department stopped collecting freon appliances in July 2025. Confirm the recycler, the acceptance and the price before moving the unit.
Each household gets one city 96-gallon bin with weekly automated collection, and the bin is city property. Garbage has to be bagged and sealed, the lid has to close without straps or bungee cords, and boxes go broken down into the recycling cart. The bin sits within five feet of the street edge with the handle facing away from the street, three feet from any other cart or obstacle, and never under tree limbs or overhead lines.
The city collects green waste and bulky items as separate streams on the same pass, one day after the garbage day. Keep them three feet apart, put the non-green bulky items out only one day before the collection, and keep the green waste out of the street and the gutters. A first failure to separate brings written notification, and a second brings a 50 dollar fee charged to the utility bill.
Yard waste, building material and construction debris, lumber and shingles, household chemicals, medical waste, used oil, paint, electronics, appliances, fire residue, masonry and automotive material all stay out of the garbage bin. The city flyer says items on that list can be scheduled for collection by calling 501-371-8340 or dropped at a recycling location, electronics and household chemicals have their own drop-off window at 13th and Sycamore, and freon appliances are handled by a local recycler instead.

Yes. Dropcurb pickup is separate from buying or installing a replacement, so you can book removal on its own.
