A mattress is named in the Arizona bulky item program published by Waste Connections, but with a specific exclusion: items with bed bug activity are not permitted, and the same page warns that accepted items vary by location. Maricopa itself publishes no mattress rule.
City cost & eligibility
The city publishes no mattress fee because it runs no collection, and the provider's page does not publish a residential bulky price for Maricopa addresses. Confirm the item and the charge with the provider for the address before booking.

Book through the provider for the address and wait for the confirmed date before setting the mattress out, because the program requires a confirmed pickup date rather than a standing collection day.

The city Waste and Recycling Center closed on August 12, 2023, and the city now lists Waste Management and Waste Connections of Arizona as the waste and recycling services for Maricopa without publishing a service map. Confirm which provider serves the address before booking anything, and remember that the city has no bulky item list, no collection day and no fee to check.
A bulk pickup is booked, confirmed and then stacked by hand
The provider's bulk program asks for an app booking, states that call-in scheduling is unavailable, and requires the pickup date to be confirmed before anything is placed outside. The allowed amount is four cubic yards, the load is stacked neatly parallel to the front property line without blocking a sidewalk, and it is collected by hand, so keep the pile reachable and keep the pieces separated.
Tires, refrigerators, freezers, wine coolers, hazardous materials, medical waste, paint, automotive parts, motor oil, batteries, light bulbs, propane or compressed tanks and construction material such as carpet, concrete, blocks, pavers and brick are all refused by the bulk program. Bed bug activity in furniture or bedding also stops a pickup, and yard debris has to be bagged under 50 pounds per bag with limbs under four feet and tied.
Use a permitted, accessible outdoor spot. Arrange the move out of your home, keep shared access clear and follow your confirmation’s readiness instructions. Check with your building about access or staging limits before booking.
