Choose by construction, not height alone. A basic desk is different from a heavy desk with a substantial body. A tall, lightweight bookcase can still be a standard bookshelf. Empty it first.

Sedona publishes no bulky item or furniture collection. The annual city collection event refuses bulky items such as furniture by name, and Sedona Recycles states plainly that it no longer accepts bulky items, so a couch moves through a private hauler or a transfer station trip.
City cost & eligibility
No city rate exists and the private haulers set their own prices, so the cost is confirmed with the hauler or at the transfer station before the piece is moved.
When & how
Call one of the haulers the city lists, such as Patriot Disposal Services at 928-203-9995 or Waste Management at 928-282-5411, or plan a transfer station trip during its open hours, Monday to Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Get it ready
Keep the piece dry and out of the recycling drop-offs, which refuse bulky items, and keep it away from the spring yard waste pile, which accepts plant material only. Confirm whether the hauler wants the piece at the curb or collected from the property before the pickup day.
The city collection event is one Saturday morning each year
The 2026 household hazardous waste and electronics collection runs on Saturday, October 24 from 7:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Sedona Red Rock High School parking lot, 995 Upper Redrock Loop Rd., as a drive-through for City of Sedona residents and residents of unincorporated Yavapai County areas. Bring electronics whole and wipe the drives first, keep cathode ray tube televisions or monitors to the twenty item limit that is first come, and bring no more than four boxes of paper for shredding.
What the city event refuses, and where those items go instead
The event refuses ammunition and fireworks, bulky items such as furniture and appliances, car and vehicle batteries, commercial business waste, compressed gas cylinders other than propane, explosives, latex and acrylic paints, motor oil, radioactive material including smoke detectors, anything containing freon including refrigerators, and tires. Latex paint can be dried with kitty litter or sawdust and put in the regular trash, and vehicle batteries and motor oil go back to garages or auto supply stores.
The spring yard waste pile is one pile, plant material only
Place one pile two feet from the edge of the street pavement where it is visible from the road, by 4 p.m. the day before the zone's first service date, and expect it to be collected once on one of the zone's service dates. Brush, shrub trimmings and limbs up to eight inches thick and eight feet long are accepted with up to ten paper bags of leaves and pine needles, never in plastic, and the total has to stay under five yards or a pile ten feet by four feet by three feet. Cactus trimmings, appliances, hazardous material, garbage, mattresses and other household waste are refused.
Recycling drop-offs stay loose and take no bulky material
Sedona Recycles keeps three free public drop-off sites open 24 hours a day. Keep recyclables loose rather than bagged, flatten boxes, and remember the current limits: only plastics numbered one and two in bottles and jugs, no lids, no number five tubs, no styrofoam and no bulky items. Glass bottles are welcome but not mirrors, window glass or Pyrex, and bagged shredded paper is the only material accepted inside a plastic bag.

Will you remove furniture from inside my apartment?+
Dropcurb starts outside. You arrange indoor carrying, including any interior stairs or elevator trip. We load and take away the furniture from an accessible outdoor location. Check your building’s rules and plan the route out before booking.
Can you take several different furniture items in one pickup?+
Yes. Add each piece and its quantity to one booking. A dining table and four chairs are five items; a separate mirror is not included with a dresser. You can mix eligible items from different rooms and review their combined total before paying.
Do I need to take furniture apart before pickup?+
You arrange any disassembly needed to move the furniture out of your home and into an accessible outdoor pickup spot. Dropcurb does not provide indoor disassembly or carrying. If you are unsure which catalog choice matches a dismantled or unusual piece, send a photo and ask before booking.
