When & how

Get it ready
Keep the mattress out of the household container and set it in the bulk pile at the front of the property, flat and clear of walls, meters and landscaping. If a box spring and frame go at the same time, keep them together in the same booked pile.
Out by 5:30 a.m., under 50 pounds, and clear of the container
Sun City West households use either an underground container or a curbside barrel, depending on the address. Items must be out no later than 5:30 a.m. on the service day, the load should stay under 50 pounds, and the area around the container has to be clear of plants and parked vehicles. Dirt, rock, concrete, construction debris and sod, flammable liquids, hot ashes and hazardous material never go in the container.
Put the pile at the front of the property near the sidewalk or the curb, never in an alleyway, stacked neatly and parallel to the street. Keep it below four feet high, keep everything shorter than four feet except bulky pieces such as a couch, and leave at least five feet from water meters, cable boxes, fire hydrants, block walls, fencing, sprinklers and landscaping, with no vehicle within ten feet. Bag and tie yard clippings, cut limbs into four-foot segments under eight inches across, and sweep up what the crew leaves behind.
What to expect at a Maricopa County transfer station
County transfer stations are open to all Maricopa County residents and ask for identification only at the recycling centers, with payment by debit or credit card and no cash accepted. The load is measured on the cargo area of one vehicle or trailer, so a separated load is easier to unload and easier to price. Arrive early enough to finish unloading before closing, and separate recyclables and electronics so they can go into the designated areas.
Use a permitted, accessible outdoor spot. Arrange the move out of your home, keep shared access clear and follow your confirmation’s readiness instructions. Check with your building about access or staging limits before booking.
