A mattress is named on Peoria's acceptable bulk trash list alongside sofas, tables and bookcases, so it leaves on a bulk trash appointment instead of in a container. Box springs are not named anywhere in the published lists, so the packet does not claim them.
City cost & eligibility
No charge. No additional fee on a bulk trash appointment for a resident with an active Solid Waste account, with a maximum of two collections per calendar year and the 6 by 4 by 3 foot pile limit. An oversized pile may carry additional fees.
When & how
Book the appointment and hold the mattress until the confirmation arrives, then set it out in the gutter or at the curb by 6 a.m. on the zone collection date and not more than one day early.
Get it ready
Keep the mattress in front of the property where it came from and inside the pile limits, and keep it out of the recycle container, which does not accept textiles or bulky household goods. Ask the division at (623) 773-7431 about a box spring if one is going at the same time.
Peoria changed bulk trash to a by appointment service in 2023, so the sequence matters more than the pile. Request the appointment, wait for the confirmation number or email, and only then set anything out. Piles are placed in the gutter or at the curb in front of the property by 6 a.m. on the zone collection date and no more than one day in advance, and they must stay clear of the sidewalk, the mailbox and parked cars. A pile that was never scheduled is not collected, and items placed on private property are not serviced and may draw a return fee.

No charge. The city states there is no additional fee for the bulk trash service. It is available to City of Peoria residents with active Solid Waste accounts, up to two collections per calendar year, on a first come first served basis, with a pile limit of 6 feet by 4 feet by 3 feet and possible additional fees for an oversized pile.
