No charge. Residents served by the City of Surprise Solid Waste Department, with ten cubic yards allowed per pickup and twenty cubic yards per year at no additional charge. Appliances, dirt, rocks, concrete, blocks, bricks, roofing material, batteries and hazardous materials are not part of the free bulk pile.
When & how
Set the pile out before 6 a.m. on the collection day, and it may go out the weekend before the scheduled date. The pile is collected on the household's bulk day rather than on a separate appointment.

Place the material in the street against the curb or gutter in front of the property, not on the sidewalk or on private property, keep it at least ten feet from poles, cars, fences and any other fixed object, and keep it off arterial and collector roads. Break down and stack empty cardboard, bag large quantities of small items such as clothing or toys, cut tree branches and large items into four foot sections, bag or box loose grass, leaves and small yard debris, and put cacti in sturdy cardboard boxes.
No Surprise page names a mattress or box spring, so the piece has to be confirmed with the department even though household items ride the bulk route.

The city publishes no mattress charge and names no mattress on the bulk or refused list, so confirm with the Solid Waste Department whether bedding counts as an accepted household item inside the free bulk allowance before the piece goes out.
