Book the unwanted bags and boxes left after packing. Choose an available pickup day before you hand back the keys, and arrange to have them outside.

A few simple choices turn a mixed pile into a clear booking. No need to estimate how much of a truck it might fill.
Count each trash bag or filled household box. Books and media go by the box. Clothes, bedding and shoes go by the filled bag. Toys packed together have a Box of toys choice. Ask us about unusually heavy or oversized bags and boxes first.
Empty cardboard is a different choice: choose single empty boxes or tied bundles of 10 flattened boxes. Compacted bales have their own weight-based choices and require loading-dock access. A Storage bin choice covers the empty bin itself; ask us to confirm the contents if they are going too.
Add the actual larger item alongside your bags and boxes, such as a sofa, chair or mattress. It has its own price and preparation. Keep construction materials and items needing special handling out of ordinary household bags.

The accepted bulk trash list is furniture that cannot be donated, mattresses, bagged trash, small appliances without Freon, washers and microwaves, and the whole set out is limited to 10 cubic yards.

Bulk trash and green organics go out by 6 a.m. on the Monday of the scheduled collection week and no earlier than 10 days before it, and a holiday in that week does not move the collection. The pile is limited to 10 cubic yards, which the city describes as the size of a small SUV, and the city moves each address on its own every-other-month schedule rather than every week.

Tempe Solid Waste customers who receive curbside or alley residential garbage and recycling collection can dispose of up to 1,000 pounds in one trip per month at the Sky Harbor Regional Transfer Station at no additional charge.
