The old sofa can stop holding up your plans.

You know it needs to go. The price, the pickup day and knowing it is done should be easy to settle, too.

A replacement is on the way.

Give the old couch its own pickup day. Check what your retailer will remove, then book the part you still need handled.

Count the sections, not the cushions.

A loveseat, a sleeper and a sectional can look similar in a photo. Match the shape and features so your online price covers what is actually going.

Three structural sectional modules slightly separated, with all cushions remaining on their bases.
This example has three structural sections. The cushions do not add to the count.

A straight sofa or loveseat

Choose Standard sofa for fixed seats with no pull-out bed or reclining mechanism. One whole sofa is one item.

A sectional

Count its structural sections, not the loose cushions. Choose the piece count, then check for a sleeper or reclining feature. One sectional booking covers the configuration you select.

A pull-out bed or reclining seats

Choose Sleeper sofa or Reclining sofa for those mechanisms. A single reclining chair has its own Recliner choice. All sofa types also includes futons and sofas with a chaise.

Couches, sofas and furniture

Accepted with preparation

A couch, a sofa or a chair is a bulky item the county picks up by appointment, and furniture is one of the examples the county gives for material too large for the garbage cart. The included appointment covers up to five cubic yards, which is about a pickup bed loaded to the top of the cab. A second appointment inside the same 12 months, or a pile above five cubic yards, is charged at current rates, and dropping furniture at a county facility instead is charged as a household load because furniture is not on the free drop-off list.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Included in the residential rate as the one bulky waste pickup appointment every 12 months, covering up to five cubic yards and starting a new 12-month period when it is used; additional appointments and material above five cubic yards are charged at current rates, and the drop-off facilities price furniture as a household load.
When & how
Book the appointment with county customer service at 916-875-5555, Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., through the online request form, or in the SacGreenTeam app, and put the pile out on the appointment day.
Get it ready
Set the pile out by 6 a.m. and no more than 24 hours before the appointment, in front of your property line on the same side of the street, one foot from the curb on a hard flat surface, clear of sidewalks and gutters, six feet from cars, fences and mailboxes, and out from under wires and limbs where 14.5 feet of clearance is required. Concrete, dirt, rocks, bricks, tree stumps, glass panes, treated wood, liquids and anything hazardous are refused.

Carts go out by 6 a.m. with the handle facing the house

Carts are collected on the regular day including holidays, and they go to the curb by 6 a.m. with the handle facing the residence and the lid closed. Leave three feet between carts, six feet from cars, mailboxes and basketball hoops, and 14.5 feet of overhead clearance from limbs, wires and awnings, keep items out of and off the top of the cart, and bring the carts back onto the property within 24 hours of service under county code 6.20.400.C.

The bulky pile has its own placement rules

A bulky waste pile goes out by 6 a.m. and no more than 24 hours before the appointment, in front of the property line on the same side of the street, one foot from the curb or pavement edge on a flat hard surface. Keep it clear of sidewalks, traffic and gutters, six feet from fences, mailboxes, cars and hoops, and out from under utility lines and tree limbs. Appliances, electronics, tires and fluorescent tubes are placed to one side of the pile, and only the scheduled items are collected.

Self-hauling in Antelope means driving to the county facilities. The North Area Recovery Station at 4450 Roseville Road in North Highlands takes household loads and the free drop-off list, and Kiefer Landfill at 12701 Kiefer Boulevard in Sloughhouse does the same while also taking clean concrete, asphalt, tile, brick, rocks and stucco without rebar at no charge and being the only county site that accepts treated wood. A load made up only of no-fee items is free at either gate, which covers a mattress and a box spring, one or two large appliances a day, residents-only e-waste such as a television or a computer, clean metal, small corded items, small power tools and up to four passenger tires, while a load with furniture or household trash in it is weighed and charged. Fluids, removable batteries and anything with a built-in battery have to be handled separately, green waste and clean wood have their own area, and every load has to be covered or secured. Household chemicals go to the hazardous waste facility at the Roseville Road address, which keeps Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday hours and takes up to 15 gallons or 125 pounds a month free. A household hazardous waste facility operates on site.

Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Couch removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Antelope.

How much does couch removal cost in Antelope?

A standard sofa is $79 as the first item and $29 additional. Sectionals, sleepers and reclining sofas have their own choices. Select everything that is going to see the combined price before booking. Loading, transportation and disposal are included; any applicable sales tax appears before payment.

Can you pick up my couch today?

Book by 2pm in the pickup address’s local time for same-day pickup. Available dates appear at checkout. Have the couch outside and accessible according to your confirmation. We send pickup updates and photos when it is done; the booking is for a day rather than an exact arrival time.

How do I book a sectional for removal?

Open Sectional in the sofa choices, count its structural sections, and select any sleeper or reclining feature. Count the sections with their own bases, not loose cushions. The matching catalog choice covers one complete sectional of that configuration. Text a photo before booking if you are unsure.

Will you carry my couch out of my apartment?

Dropcurb starts outside. Arrange for the sofa to be moved through the apartment and down interior stairs before pickup. We load and haul it away from an accessible outdoor spot. Arrange any dismantling needed to get it outside beforehand.

Do I need to wait at home for couch pickup?

You do not need to be home when your booked sofa is outside and accessible. Add photos and pickup-location notes to your order so the right pieces are easy to identify. We send updates and completion photos. Confirm any building access restrictions with us before booking.

Will Sacramento County take a couch from the curb?

Yes, on the bulky waste pickup that every household on the county service may book once every 12 months. Furniture is one of the county's own examples for the pile, the appointment covers up to five cubic yards, and a second appointment in the same 12 months or a larger pile is charged at current rates.Official guidance

Who runs the collection in Antelope?

Sacramento County's Department of Waste Management and Recycling runs the residential carts, the bulky waste appointments and the two drop-off facilities for residents in the unincorporated areas of the county. Multifamily apartment complexes, condos, mobile home parks and multiplexes are served by commercial franchised haulers instead, so a household in one of those buildings should ask the property manager. Customer service is 916-875-5555, Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.Official guidance

Can I change a bulky waste appointment after I book it?

Yes, but the county asks you to call customer service at 916-875-5555 and speak to a representative at least one day before the appointment. Adding a special set-out item such as an appliance, e-waste, a tire or a fluorescent tube, and any change or cancellation, has to be done by phone, because emails and voicemails are not accepted.Official guidance
