Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Ready outside. Taken from there.

Your TV can stay inside while you book. Before pickup, arrange to have it disconnected, taken down if mounted and moved to an accessible outdoor spot.

Text us about your setup
  1. Arrange any unmounting first.

Dropcurb does not remove TVs from walls or do indoor carrying. Arrange the help you need before pickup day, including the trip down interior stairs or through an elevator.

  2. Choose a permitted outdoor spot.

Use a stable, accessible location with a clear path for loading. Keep the TV separate from anything staying. Check building rules before placing it in a shared pickup area.

  3. Show us the TV that is going.

Add a location photo and access notes after booking. Follow the readiness instructions in your confirmation. For exposed broken glass or unusual damage, send a photo and check with us before booking.

Televisions and electronics

Accepted with preparation

Electronic devices are within the bulky item definition, so a television or monitor goes out on a bulky reservation rather than in the carts.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. The device uses one of the free bulky item pickups included with the residential account. California's covered electronic waste program and its collectors handle devices separately at no charge to the household.
When & how
Reserve the bulky pickup with Waste Management at (626) 856-1285 or (800) 266-7551, or use a collector from the state eRecycle directory, then set the item out no earlier than the evening before the scheduled day.
Get it ready
Keep electronics out of the trash and recycling carts, because the hauler lists electronic waste as non-acceptable container material. Wipe personal data from a computer, phone or drive before it leaves the property.

The handoff matters

Right item.
Right place.

A bulky pickup is a reservation, not a set-out

The free bulky pickups are booked with the hauler, which the City asks for at least 24 hours ahead, and the items go out no earlier than the evening before the scheduled pickup. Nothing blocks a sidewalk, driveway or roadway, and refrigerator doors are removed or secured first.

For your Dropcurb pickup

Use a permitted, accessible outdoor spot. Arrange the move out of your home, keep shared access clear and follow your confirmation’s readiness instructions. Check with your building about access or staging limits before booking.

Free bulky item pickup by reservation

Households with a couch, a mattress, an appliance, a refrigerator or an electronic device to clear.

Cost & conditions
No charge. Four free bulky item pickups a calendar year for a single-family residential account and two for each multi-family residential unit.
Arrange it
Call Waste Management at (626) 856-1285 or (800) 266-7551 to reserve the pickup, which the City asks for at least 24 hours before the regular collection day, and set the items out no earlier than the evening before.

Household bulky items only. Construction debris, tires, auto parts, household hazardous waste and household trash are not part of the program, and the pickup count resets each calendar year.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Arcadia residents haul their own material to nearby sites rather than to a city facility. Mattresses go to the Monrovia site on West Duarte Road, to R5 Recycling in Azusa, or to a Republic Services transfer station in East Los Angeles, each with its own unit limit and weekday hours, and the Bye Bye Mattress directory lists further sites and events. Used oil and filters go to certified collection centers, and the City gives out free containers, funnels and oil change mats at the Public Works Service Center on Goldring Road. Scrap metal goes to yards in Irwindale, South El Monte and Baldwin Park, household batteries go to drop boxes at City Hall, the Library, the Community Center and the Public Works Services Department, and household hazardous waste is collected from the doorstep through the hauler's program, with a pharmacy kiosk and a sheriff station for medicines. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Arcadia.

How much does TV removal cost in Arcadia?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Arcadia?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

Can a television go out with the trash?

No. The hauler lists electronic waste as non-acceptable container material, and the City's bulky item definition covers electronic devices, so a television goes out on a bulky reservation or to a collector in the state directory instead.Official guidance

Why are televisions treated differently in California?

California law treats nonfunctioning cathode ray tubes and the mercury bulbs in televisions, laptops, tablets and monitors as hazardous waste, so they are not trash. The state's Covered Electronic Waste Recycling Program funds collection and recycling for households, and the eRecycle directory lists the collectors.Official guidance

Who collects trash in Arcadia?

The City contracts with Waste Management for residential and multi-family trash and recycling, and the collection runs on Wednesdays city-wide. The Public Works Services Department at (626) 254-2720 handles City questions, and the hauler's customer service line is (800) 266-7551.Official guidance

What do I do with paint, chemicals, batteries and medicines?

Arcadia residents are allowed up to three free household hazardous waste collections a year through the hauler's doorstep program at (800) 449-7587 or wmatyourdoor.com, and business material is not collected. Household batteries go to drop boxes at City Hall, the Library, the Community Center or the Public Works Services Department, with the contact ends of lithium batteries taped and no automotive batteries. Medicines go to the pharmacy kiosk on South Baldwin Avenue, and pharmaceuticals and sharps are accepted anonymously at the Temple City sheriff station.Official guidance

What plastics can go in the recycling cart?

The curbside cart takes type 1, 2 and 5 plastics, identified by the numbered recycling symbol on the packaging. Tetrapak cartons are not recyclable in the City's service because of the waxy surface coating, even though the packaging suggests otherwise.Official guidance

How does green waste go out?

Green waste is collected on the same Wednesday schedule as trash and recycling, and large bundled branches that will not fit in the green container can go out as a bulky item on one of the free reservations. The City also sells compost bins to residents.Official guidance
