Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Electronics and televisions

Accepted with preparation

Electronic waste is refused in bulky collection, and Pasadena instead runs one-day e-waste and shredding events through the year, while Los Angeles residents can also use the free S.A.F.E. collection centers.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. The city one-day e-waste events are free to residents, and the Los Angeles S.A.F.E. centers are free for household hazardous waste and electronic waste, capped at 15 gallons or 125 pounds per visit.
When & how
Check the city calendar for the next one-day e-waste and document shredding event, which is scheduled around space availability at the Rose Bowl, or drive to a S.A.F.E. collection center, and subscribe through the City Service Center for event notices.
Get it ready
Erase sensitive data before recycling any device, remove fluorescent bulbs from lamps and metal housings, and leave white goods, air conditioners, water heaters, car batteries, solar panels and large printer or copier units at home, because the events refuse them. Keep electronics out of the bulky pile and the carts.

What the bulky truck will not take

Electronic waste such as televisions, DVD players, cellphones, gaming consoles, computers and monitors is refused, along with construction and roofing material such as concrete, cement, bricks, roof shingles, tiles and drywall, household hazardous materials such as paint, batteries, fertilizer, oil and cleaning supplies, landscaping project material such as dirt, sand, gravel, large branches and stumps, bushes and railroad ties, and automobile parts except up to two tires without rims. Refrigerators and air conditioning units are refused as well. Wood, pipe and branches must be no longer than three feet and tied into easy to handle bundles, and glass and mirrors should stay visible to the crew.

Household chemicals leave through the county network

Household hazardous waste cannot go in the garbage, down a storm drain or onto the ground. Los Angeles County residents can take paint, solvents, cleaning products, used motor oil and filters, antifreeze and other automotive fluids, pool and garden chemicals, aerosol cans, fluorescent bulbs and sharps to a free S.A.F.E. collection center or a county one-day event, with a limit of 15 gallons or 125 pounds per visit. Pasadena also takes household batteries and light bulbs at selected libraries and community centers, PaintCare retailers take leftover paint, and city refuse customers can have used oil and filters picked up curbside by appointment.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Pasadena keeps bulky items on the parkway and sends chemicals and electronics off site. A city refuse customer schedules two free bulky pickups a year on 626-744-7311, at least two weeks ahead, with the pile on the parkway between the sidewalk and the street, within a three cubic yard bin and light enough for two people. Anything the city refuses has its own route. Household hazardous waste goes free to a Los Angeles S.A.F.E. collection center or a county one-day event, with a 15 gallon or 125 pound per visit limit and the origin address requested at drop-off. Electronic waste also has the city one-day events at the Rose Bowl, and batteries and light bulbs drop off at selected Pasadena libraries and community centers. Renovation material runs through the city construction and demolition ordinance and a rented bin or authorised hauler rather than the curb. Refrigerators and air conditioning units are refused by the bulky service and by the e-waste events, so those need a retailer take-back or a private hauler. Note that the S.A.F.E. center addresses sit behind a location map on the LA Sanitation page, so confirm the nearest site before a trip. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Pasadena.

How much does TV removal cost in Pasadena?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Pasadena?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

Where do Pasadena televisions and computers go?

Electronic waste is refused in the bulky pickup. Take it to one of the city's one-day e-waste and document shredding events, which are scheduled around space availability at the Rose Bowl, or to a Los Angeles S.A.F.E. collection center, which takes electronic waste free with a 15 gallon or 125 pound per visit limit. Erase sensitive data first.Official guidance

Who collects trash and bulky items in Pasadena?

The city Public Works Department collects refuse from residential properties itself, and the City Service Center on 626-744-7311 handles bulky item appointments, bin rentals and used oil collections. Households whose trash is collected by a private hauler, such as apartment buildings, arrange bulky pickup with that hauler instead.Official guidance

What will the Pasadena bulky pickup not take?

Electronic waste, construction and roofing material, household hazardous materials such as paint, batteries, oil and cleaning supplies, landscaping project material such as dirt, sand, gravel, branches, stumps and railroad ties, automobile parts other than up to two tires without rims, and refrigerators and air conditioning units are all refused. Wood and branches must be under three feet and tied in bundles.Official guidance

Where do paint, oil and batteries go in Pasadena?

To a free Los Angeles S.A.F.E. collection center or a county one-day event, with a limit of 15 gallons or 125 pounds per visit, or to a Pasadena library or community center for household batteries and light bulbs. PaintCare retailers take leftover paint, and city refuse customers can have used oil and filters collected curbside by appointment at least 24 hours ahead on 626-744-7311.Official guidance
