Get it ready
Empty the appliance, secure the doors, and load it into a cleanup event load with the batteries removed from anything battery powered, because the city asks residents to strip batteries before e-waste and household goods go in. Keep hazardous items such as motor oil and paint out of the load and route them to the hazardous waste program.
Carts out by 5 a.m., three feet apart, lids closed
Set carts at the curb the night before or by 5 a.m. on the collection day, with the lid opening facing the street and the wheels against the curb, three feet apart and at least six feet from vehicles, mailboxes, light posts and basketball hoops. Lids have to close, because an open lid means the cart is not serviced and a return trip carries an extra fee, and residents are asked to stay 15 feet back from a working truck.
A cleanup event needs an online registration with the utility account number
Register online with the City of Brentwood utility billing account number and pick one of the pre-scheduled dates and times, because registration closes when the event is full or two days before it, whichever comes first, and a permit caps the site at 700 vehicles a day.
