Treadmill, walking pad or commercial model?
Household treadmill includes folding home models with a tall console. Choose Walking pad for a compact under-desk model, or Commercial treadmill for a large gym machine. All equipment opens those choices.
An exercise bike, elliptical or rower
Spin, upright, recumbent and air bikes all use Exercise bike, including Peloton and other brands. One elliptical includes its connected base, handles and pedals. Rowing machines and Pilates reformers have their own choices.
Weights, racks and benches
Add together the pounds of loose dumbbells, kettlebells, plates and barbells. Free weights are priced in 10 lb units, rounding the combined weight up. For example, 25 lb uses three units. Add a stand, rack or bench separately if it is going too.

Exercise equipment is not named on any Brentwood page. A machine does not fit a cart and the published lists name appliances, furniture and mattresses rather than gym equipment, so the route is confirmed with the Solid Waste Division before it goes out.
City cost & eligibility
No published rate covers an exercise machine, and the two routes differ: a cleanup event is free with an active garbage account while an extra pickup carries an unpublished fee, so the division confirms the route and the charge at (925) 516-6090.
When & how
Call the Solid Waste Division before the machine is moved, and if it is accepted book it into a cleanup event registration or an extra pickup for a collection week.
Get it ready
Fold or tie down the deck and handles, remove the console and any battery pack so the electronics can go to the hazardous waste route instead, and keep the machine out of the carts, where an open lid means no collection.
Carts out by 5 a.m., three feet apart, lids closed
Set carts at the curb the night before or by 5 a.m. on the collection day, with the lid opening facing the street and the wheels against the curb, three feet apart and at least six feet from vehicles, mailboxes, light posts and basketball hoops. Lids have to close, because an open lid means the cart is not serviced and a return trip carries an extra fee, and residents are asked to stay 15 feet back from a working truck.
A cleanup event needs an online registration with the utility account number
Register online with the City of Brentwood utility billing account number and pick one of the pre-scheduled dates and times, because registration closes when the event is full or two days before it, whichever comes first, and a permit caps the site at 700 vehicles a day. A household may register for one spring event and one fall event, and each registration covers up to two cubic yards of household material.
Only Christmas and New Year's Day move a Brentwood collection day
Christmas Day and New Year's Day are the only two holidays that affect garbage service, and when one of them falls on a weekday the collection runs one day later for that week only. A holiday that falls on a Saturday or Sunday changes nothing, and every other holiday keeps the regular schedule.

Which option covers a Peloton, spin bike or recumbent bike?+
Choose Exercise bike for one stationary bike, including spin, upright, recumbent and air bikes. Peloton and other brands use the same stationary-bike choice. A treadmill, walking pad and outdoor bicycle are different items, so select their matching options.
How do I book free weights, a weight rack or a bench?+
