Treadmill, walking pad or commercial model?
Household treadmill includes folding home models with a tall console. Choose Walking pad for a compact under-desk model, or Commercial treadmill for a large gym machine. All equipment opens those choices.
An exercise bike, elliptical or rower
Spin, upright, recumbent and air bikes all use Exercise bike, including Peloton and other brands. One elliptical includes its connected base, handles and pedals. Rowing machines and Pilates reformers have their own choices.
Weights, racks and benches
Add together the pounds of loose dumbbells, kettlebells, plates and barbells. Free weights are priced in 10 lb units, rounding the combined weight up. For example, 25 lb uses three units. Add a stand, rack or bench separately if it is going too.

Exercise equipment follows the same condition split: working equipment goes out on Reuse Day, and non-working equipment may go out on Cleanup Day or be collected on-call within the size and weight limits.
City cost & eligibility

When & how
Use the pre-scheduled Reuse or Cleanup Day for a machine within the limits, or book the on-call pickup if it is larger than the four foot by 24 inch and 50 pound limits allow.
Get it ready
Keep a non-working machine inside the two cubic yard or fourteen bag volume and the four foot, 24 inch and 50 pound limits if it goes on Cleanup Day, and take the console or battery pack off so it can be handled as a separate small item.
Reuse and Cleanup Days are mailed to each address about two weeks ahead and they run twice a year. On Reuse Day, Mt. Diablo Resource Recovery collects gently used household items and donates them, which is the route for working furniture, appliances and electronics. Cleanup Day follows the next day and Republic Services takes what does not meet the Reuse Day rules to landfill, with a volume cap of two cubic yards or fourteen 32-gallon bags, no item longer than four feet or wider than 24 inches, and nothing heavier than 50 pounds, with charges possible above those limits.

No charge. Every single family home in the RecycleSmart service area can set out items twice a year on pre-scheduled days at no additional cost, with charges possible only for material over the two cubic yard, four foot, 24 inch or 50 pound limits.
Arrange it
Use the dates mailed to the address about two weeks in advance, or look them up with the RecycleSmart day finder, and set the items out for the Reuse Day and the leftovers for Cleanup Day the day after.
