Choose by the type of equipment. A brand name does not mean a different item, but a walking pad and a full treadmill do.
Treadmill, walking pad or commercial model?
Household treadmill includes folding home models with a tall console. Choose Walking pad for a compact under-desk model, or Commercial treadmill for a large gym machine. All equipment opens those choices.
An exercise bike, elliptical or rower
Spin, upright, recumbent and air bikes all use Exercise bike, including Peloton and other brands. One elliptical includes its connected base, handles and pedals. Rowing machines and Pilates reformers have their own choices.
Weights, racks and benches
Add together the pounds of loose dumbbells, kettlebells, plates and barbells. Free weights are priced in 10 lb units, rounding the combined weight up. For example, 25 lb uses three units. Add a stand, rack or bench separately if it is going too.

A pickup day is not an exact arrival window. Tell us before booking about a shared loading area, restricted outdoor access or equipment whose size or setup you are unsure how to select.

Exercise equipment is not named in the bulky, reusable or refused lists, so the hauler has to confirm the machine before it is set out.
City cost & eligibility
No published rate covers an exercise machine. It has to fit the 150 pound per-item limit and one of the three bulky slots, so confirm with Alameda County Industries at 510-483-1400.
When & how
Call the hauler with the machine type and weight, then include it in the booked collection only if it is accepted.
Get it ready
Fold or tie down the deck and handles, remove any console or battery pack so the electronics can be handled as e-waste, and keep the item under 150 pounds.
At the kerb by 6 a.m. and never more than a day early
Place items curbside or at the arranged collection location by 6 a.m. on the scheduled pickup day, and do not set anything out more than 24 hours in advance. Keep the pile clear of street and sidewalk access.
Use a permitted, accessible outdoor spot. Arrange the move out of your home, keep shared access clear and follow your confirmation’s readiness instructions. Check with your building about access or staging limits before booking.

No charge. One on-call bulky item collection day per household or unit every twelve months at no additional charge, capped at three cubic yards and three large items of up to 150 pounds each.

Items over 150 pounds, abandoned automobiles, tires, dirt, rocks, construction and demolition debris, and household hazardous waste are refused. Appointments are unavailable in the first two weeks of January, and multi-family addresses must agree a collection location with the building manager first.
Alameda has no municipal transfer station in the retained sources; the bulky route is the franchised hauler's on-call collection, which every residential customer can book once per household or unit every twelve months at no charge, within three cubic yards and three large items of up to 150 pounds each. One of the three items may be electronic waste, and clean undamaged reusable pieces set apart and labelled REUSE go to a donation facility rather than the landfill. What the route refuses has to go elsewhere: dirt, rock, construction and demolition debris move through the hauler's debris box or special bin service, and household hazardous waste including radioactive material, medications, sharps and toxic products is barred from every cart and bin, with the page pointing to StopWaste and the county hazardous waste line at 1-800-606-6606. Dropcurb pickup starts outside. Arrange indoor carrying, stairs and any dismantling needed to get your equipment out before pickup. Check the moving instructions for your exact model and arrange suitable help. We load and haul away the equipment from an accessible outdoor spot.
Which option covers a Peloton, spin bike or recumbent bike?+
Choose Exercise bike for one stationary bike, including spin, upright, recumbent and air bikes. Peloton and other brands use the same stationary-bike choice. A treadmill, walking pad and outdoor bicycle are different items, so select their matching options.
How do I book free weights, a weight rack or a bench?+
Enter the combined weight in pounds for your dumbbells, kettlebells, plates and barbells. Booking rounds that total up to the next 10 lb unit: 25 lb uses three units. Stands, racks and benches are separate items and do not include the loose weights. Add each one that is going.
Is a treadmill accepted in the Alameda bulky pickup?+
