$12.14 per mattress or box spring on a scheduled bulky pickup, applied to the Burbank Water and Power account. Burbank residential customers, with the account holder scheduling the item. The Recycle Center drop-off is free for residents at one mattress and one box spring per household, and a retailer delivering a new mattress is required by law to take the old one for free.
When & how
Schedule the pickup through the 311 portal at least two business days ahead or by phone at least one business day ahead, or drop the set at the Recycle Center at 500 South Flower Street during its weekday hours.

Keep the set dry and place it at least five feet from fixed objects the night before collection. The city notes that big items may be tagged and collected the Friday after the trash day if the crew cannot lift them.

Mattresses, appliances such as air conditioners, dishwashers, freezers, refrigerators, stoves, washers, dryers and water heaters, tires and gas-powered lawn equipment are charged a handling fee per item on the Burbank Water and Power account, and the account holder has to schedule those pickups. Remove the doors from a refrigerator or freezer, keep the unit empty, and expect an item that is too heavy or too large for the crew to be tagged and collected the Friday after your trash day.

Arrange it
Bring the material to 500 South Flower Street. The Drop Zone runs Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., and the CRV bottle and can drop-off also opens Saturday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Proof of Burbank residency may be requested.
Burbank residents only, with small business drop-offs by arrangement, and motor oil and filters, paint, chemicals and medical waste are refused. Antifreeze is limited to two gallons, is not accepted between noon and 1 p.m. on weekdays and cannot be mixed, tubes are limited to ten per resident per year, and loose e-bike batteries are refused.
Burbank has two self-haul routes.
