Set electronics aside from the pile rather than inside it, keep smaller devices together and the screens whole, and remove loose batteries where the device allows so they can be taped and dropped at a hazardous waste facility. Products with built-in batteries go to an electronic waste program, not the hazardous waste drop-off.
Set appliances, electronics, carpeting, mattresses and tires apart from the pile
Appliances, televisions, monitors, computers, electronics, carpeting, mattresses, car seats, toys and up to four tires go to one side of the cleanup pile so they can be collected separately. Place appliances, televisions, monitors and computers 1 to 2 feet from the pile, and keep everything at the curb rather than in the gutter and clear of the sidewalk and of carts and vehicles.
Keep hazardous waste, batteries and propane tanks out of the pile
Batteries, paint, cleaning products, pesticides, propane tanks, medical waste, auto parts, boats and backyard spas are refused on cleanup days, and treated wood is not collected. Take hazardous material to the drop-off facility at the North Area Recovery Station, which takes up to 15 gallons or 125 pounds per month at no charge, put used batteries in a clear bag on top of the blue recycling cart, and arrange medical sharps with Republic Services by appointment.
Use a permitted, accessible outdoor spot. Arrange the move out of your home, keep shared access clear and follow your confirmation’s readiness instructions. Check with your building about access or staging limits before booking.
City residential addresses with furniture, mattresses, appliances, electronics, carpeting, bagged yard clippings, clean wood, plastic pipe, toys or up to four tires inside one 10 cubic yard pile.

No charge. Three cleanup days a year are part of the city's contracted residential collection service. The cleanup guide publishes no charge for a pile within 10 cubic yards; a pile set out more than 48 hours early carries an improper large item setout charge and a pile over 10 cubic yards carries a minimum excessive pile charge that rises with the amount of material.

Construction material, treated wood, steel pipes, auto parts, boats, backyard spas, batteries, propane tanks, medical waste, liquid waste and household hazardous waste are refused, along with commercial or contractor waste. Some HOA streets have coordinated dates instead of the published street schedule.
