Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Televisions, computers and electronic waste

Special rules apply

The Community Clean-Up flier lists electronic waste on its metals pile but also names televisions among the material it will not take, and the City's toter guide bars televisions, computer monitors, laptops and cell phones from every cart. Fresno County takes e-waste at no charge through its household hazardous waste program, while retail counters and independent computer recyclers set their own acceptance lists.

City cost & eligibility
The City publishes no charge for electronic waste and its flier treats televisions and other electronics differently, so confirm the device before it leaves the house. Community Clean-Up is free within the two-load limit for the metal pile material it lists, and the county household hazardous waste program takes e-waste at no charge from residents inside a 125 pound or 15 gallon visit limit. A retail counter or computer recycler sets its own acceptance and any charge.
When & how
Community Clean-Up runs on the neighborhood's published day in the spring and fall cycles. The county's Environmental Compliance Center takes material Thursday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. except holiday weekends, and retail counters keep their own store hours.
Get it ready
Wipe personal data before handing over a computer, phone or tablet, keep every television, monitor and laptop out of the carts and out of a landfill load, and check acceptance with the counter or recycler first, because the City's flier and the county's programs do not cover the same devices.

Put clean-up debris out by 6 a.m. on your date and not before

Each neighborhood has its own pick-up day in the spring cycle and the fall cycle, and everything has to be at the curb by 6 a.m. on that day. Nothing may go out more than two weeks ahead of the date, and the City charges an extra collection charge when a pile is set out early, arrives late, is hauled in from another address or is not separated into the three piles.

Community Clean-Up program eligibility, cycles, set-out rule and the interactive pick-up date mapCommunity Clean-Up debris rules flier with accepted and not accepted materials, pile separation, preparation and quantity limits

Separate the pile into greenwaste, metal and other debris

The City recycles as much of the clean-up material as it can, so greenwaste, metal and other debris are kept in three separate piles in front of the property they came from. Different trucks collect each pile at different times of the day, some material may be collected earlier than the published date, and the trucks return on the scheduled day for the rest.

Do not use the gray, blue or green carts for bulky material

Batteries, cell phones, computer monitors, laptops, televisions, tires, concrete, dirt, rocks, roofing material, treated and railroad lumber and construction debris may not go in any cart, and the carts may not be used to hold clean-up material either. Batteries go out in a sealed bag on top of the blue recycling cart or to a hazardous waste site, and up to 2.5 gallons of used motor oil per week goes beside the recycling cart in a labelled container with a secure lid.

Twice-a-year curbside Community Clean-Up

A household with a couch, a mattress, an appliance, a load of bagged junk or yard debris that can wait for the next published clean-up date.

Cost & conditions
No charge. Single-family residences that are City of Clovis refuse customers, one date per cycle in the spring and fall, up to two loads or about 6 cubic yards each cycle.
Arrange it
Look up the address on the City's interactive Community Clean-Up map, then put the separated piles at the curb in front of the property by 6 a.m. on the published date.

Furniture, mattresses, appliances, carpeting, bagged debris, palm fronds and open dry paint cans are taken in the other debris and metals piles. Televisions, construction debris of any kind, dirt, concrete, asphalt, roofing material, tires, batteries and railroad or treated lumber are refused and stay the household's responsibility, and no debris may be hauled in from another location.

Retail and recycling counters for computers and electronics

A household with a computer, a monitor, a laptop, a cell phone or a printer that must stay out of the carts.

Cost & conditions
Counters and computer recyclers set their own acceptance lists and any charge, so confirm the specific device before loading a vehicle.
Arrange it
Use the county drop-off directory to find a counter or recycler near Clovis, including the store on Herndon Avenue that the county lists for e-waste and the computer recyclers listed for Fresno and Clovis.

Most of the listed counters take computer equipment rather than televisions, so check the exact device with the counter first.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Fresno County runs the regional landfill for this area at 18950 W American Ave in Kerman, where household loads are weighed and charged by the ton with a minimum on a light load and an extra flat amount on an uncovered load, and a high-visibility vest is required on site. It opens Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., closed Sunday plus Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year's Day, and county staff turn away a demolition load that is not under 3 cubic yards or less than 20 percent of the mix. Mattresses have their own free route through the mattress program drop-off sites listed for Fresno County, and the privately operated Cedar Avenue station in Fresno takes households for mattresses, small appliances, e-waste and construction debris. Household hazardous waste goes to the county center on West Dan Ronquillo Drive in Fresno, or to the Clovis Drop-Off Center at 79 N. Sunnyside on Tuesdays through Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for paint, motor oil, antifreeze, batteries and bulbs, and construction debris inside Clovis moves through a franchised hauler instead of a curb pile. County household hazardous waste center and the free route for televisions, monitors and phones

Environmental Compliance Center

1327 West Dan Ronquillo Drive, Fresno, CA 93706

Televisions, computer equipment, cell phones, e-waste, small appliances under 125 pounds that hold no refrigerant, batteries, aerosol cans, antifreeze and coolant, used oil and filters, transmission fluid, propane tanks, paint and stripper, pesticides, mercury thermostats and thermometers, treated wood, solar panels, lamps, toner cartridges and household sharps.

Fresno County residential material only, free and without an appointment, with a maximum of 125 pounds or 15 gallons per visit and per vehicle, and small appliances may not contain refrigerant. Business waste runs separately through the county's small quantity generator program by appointment, and the county asks residents to call before a visit to confirm the material.

Thursday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., except holiday weekends. A reuse center for usable paint, chlorine, pesticides and herbicides runs the same hours and closes on July 4 and the two days after Thanksgiving.

No charge. Free to Fresno County residents inside the per-visit limit; a business pays disposal costs through the county program and needs an appointment.

Privately operated transfer station listed for mattresses, appliances, e-waste and construction debris

Cedar Avenue Recycling and Transfer Station

3457 South Cedar Avenue, Fresno, CA 93725

Mattresses and box springs, small appliances under 125 pounds that hold no refrigerant, stoves, washers and dryers, water heaters, cell phones, computer equipment, e-waste, construction and demolition debris, asphalt and concrete, and used tires.

Small appliances may not contain refrigerant and have to stay under 125 pounds, charges apply to commercial mattress drop-offs after the tenth unit, and construction and demolition material still has to meet the county's load conditions.

Set by the operator; the county lists the site as a privately operated transfer station and the mattress program publishes it for resident drop-off, so confirm the current hours at (559) 233-1158 before loading.

No charge. Free for household mattress drop-off up to 10 units and for the household quantities in the county directory; the site sets any charge for larger or commercial loads.

Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Clovis.

How much does TV removal cost in Clovis?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Clovis?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

Where can a Clovis household take a television?

Not to the curb during Community Clean-Up, because the City's debris flier names televisions among the items it will not pick up, and not in any cart, which the City's toter guide also forbids for televisions and computer monitors. Fresno County's household hazardous waste program lists televisions among the electronics it takes free of charge at the Environmental Compliance Center on West Dan Ronquillo Drive in Fresno and at its network drop-off sites, within the per-visit weight and volume limit.Official guidance

How does Clovis handle electronic waste?

The Community Clean-Up flier puts electronic waste in the metals pile along with refrigerators, metal lawn furniture, metal pipe and propane tanks, while televisions appear on the same flier's not accepted list. Fresno County takes e-waste, cell phones, computer equipment and small appliances under 125 pounds that hold no refrigerant through its household hazardous waste program, and the county directory lists retail and computer recyclers in and around Clovis for e-waste.Official guidance

How does the Clovis Community Clean-Up program work?

Community Clean-Up is the City's free bulk curbside collection for single-family houses that are City refuse customers, and it runs once in the spring cycle from January through June and once in the fall cycle from July through December. Each address gets a published date, sets the material out in three separated piles in front of the property by 6 a.m. and never more than two weeks early, and may put out no more than two loads of about 6 cubic yards per cycle.Official guidance

Where do Clovis residents take paint, oil, batteries and bulbs?

The City's Drop-Off Center at 79 N. Sunnyside takes antifreeze up to 5 gallons, used motor oil up to 5 gallons, household and automotive batteries, household paint up to 20 gallons and fluorescent bulbs or tubes up to 4 per visit, free of charge for household material, on Tuesdays through Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Spray paint, aerosols and household, yard or pool chemicals are not accepted there and are routed to Fresno County household hazardous waste, which also runs a free residential drop-off in Fresno.Official guidance
