Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Televisions, computers and electronics

Accepted with preparation

Electronics are accepted at Dump On Us events, and the city lists three local recyclers with free pick-up or drop-off: Electronic Recycling of Tulare County, Sequoia Community Corps through CSET, and Xtreme Electronic Recycling. Some electronic waste is also accepted at the household hazardous waste facility on the first Saturday of each month.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Free for Visalia residents at Dump On Us events with proof of residency; the city's e-waste page describes free pick-up from Electronic Recycling of Tulare County and a free drop-off site and pick-ups from Sequoia Community Corps, with Xtreme Electronic Recycling also offering free drop-off locations.
When & how
Use a Dump On Us event during its morning window, call Electronic Recycling of Tulare County on 559-783-3713 or Sequoia Community Corps on 559-830-9455 to arrange a pick-up, or bring some electronic waste to the household hazardous waste facility on the first Saturday of the month during its regular hours, since the bin page publishes that window.
Get it ready
Wipe personal data properly rather than deleting files, keep working devices for donation through Goodwill, the Salvation Army or Habitat for Humanity's ReStore, and remember the household hazardous waste centre refuses televisions and electronic waste on ordinary Saturdays even though the first-Saturday window takes some of it.

Cans three feet apart, ten feet from anything else

Set garbage, recycling and yard waste cans three feet apart from each other and ten feet from parked cars, boats, trailers, basketball hoops and similar obstructions, in the street within one foot of the curb and where there is fifteen feet of overhead clearance. Cans go out no earlier than 7 p.m. the day before collection and are curbside by 6 a.m. on collection day, because the automatic arms cannot service a can boxed in by other objects.

A Dump On Us load arrives covered, inspected and with the utility bill

Bring the City of Visalia utility bill for proof of residency at the entrance, cover the load because California law requires it, and expect the load to be inspected at the gate. Doors come off every large appliance, household hazardous waste is accepted at the same event, gates close at noon, and the per-event limits are five mattresses and four tires without rims. Box and moving trucks are not allowed, shredding is limited to two banker boxes of documents per person, and free compost is available while supplies last with one load per event.

Rented bins refuse tires, electronics and chemicals

The city rents a two cubic yard front load bin for household, yard or garage clean-ups, a fifteen yard low boy for cement, dirt and other heavy material, and twenty to forty yard roll-off yard boxes for general trash, brush and green waste. Tires, electronic waste and household hazardous waste are not allowed in any of them, so those three streams go to a Dump On Us event, the household hazardous waste windows or an e-waste recycler instead.

Temporary bin rental page: the bin sizes and uses, the City Hall paperwork and prepayment, the refusal of tires, e-waste and hazardous waste, and the first-Saturday e-waste window

Some material never goes to the hazardous waste centre

The household chemical waste facility refuses appliances, electronic waste and televisions, compressed gas and propane cylinders, radioactive material including smoke detectors, ammunition and explosives, and all business, industrial and agricultural waste. Propane tanks should be exchanged or taken to a propane supplier, the county landfill and Dump On Us events take tanks only with the valve removed, and home-generated sharps are accepted only in approved certified containers.

Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Visalia.

How much does TV removal cost in Visalia?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Visalia?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

The division works from 336 N. Ben Maddox Way and its public works customer service line is 559-713-4428.Official guidance

How do Visalia Dump On Us events work?

They are free recycling events at the Visalia City Yard, 335 N. Cain St., where residents show a utility bill for proof of residency and drop unwanted items, with the city asking residents to hold recyclables such as metals, concrete, large appliances, mattresses, tires without rims, electronics and green waste for the next event. Loads must be covered and are inspected, gates close at noon, and each event is limited to five mattresses and four tires without rims, with household hazardous waste accepted at the same time.Official guidance

Yes. The city points residents to Goodwill, the Salvation Army and Habitat for Humanity's ReStore for electronics and other items that still work, and it recommends donating rather than landfilling anything usable before a Dump On Us trip.Official guidance
