Call CR&R Customer Service at (949) 646-4617 Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., or file an online Service Request for Solid Waste then Household Hazardous Waste. CR&R confirms the quantity and types before scheduling and explains how to package it, and the bags or containers go out front by 6:00 a.m. on the collection day.
Get it ready
Wipe personal data before handover, keep batteries, bulbs and other universal waste separate from the bulky pile, and store sharps in a puncture-proof container because that is the program's rule.
Hazardous waste goes out at the front of the house
The household hazardous waste collection is door to door. After CR&R confirms the quantity and types and sets a date, the resident bags or containers the material as the hauler directs and places it in front of the house by 6:00 a.m. on the collection day, and does not need to be home. Each pickup is limited to 15 gallons or 125 pounds and a household gets up to three a year.

CR&R verifies the quantity and types of material before it commits to a date, so a large quantity of one product or an excluded item may not be accepted, and only CMSD solid waste customers qualify.
Use an Orange County household hazardous waste facility
An address that is not a CMSD solid waste customer, such as a household whose weekly trash is collected in a dumpster.

The district states the material can be disposed of free at the four Orange County household hazardous waste collection facilities, but it does not publish their addresses or hours on the page, so check the county's own listing before a trip.
