The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.
Flat-screen TVs
Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.
Tube TVs
An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.
TV stands and other electronics
The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Televisions and computer monitors are the electronic waste the bulky collection accepts, with smaller sets counted toward the container allowance and larger ones counted as a bulky item. Other electronic waste is refused there and moves through the city's free events or the listed drop-off sites.
City cost & eligibility
No charge. Televisions and monitors go out with the one free bulky goods collection each calendar year per residential account, and the city also runs free electronic waste collection events twice a year. Drop-off locations set their own terms, and the hauler charges a fee for electronic waste dropped at its office.
When & how

Get it ready
A television or monitor under 32 inches and under four feet by four feet and 60 pounds can count as one bag, box or bundle toward the 12 container allowance, while a larger set counts as one of the two bulky items, so decide which allowance you are using when you schedule. Wipe personal data from computers and phones, and remember that other electronic waste is not accepted in this collection.
Out the night before or by 4 a.m. at the end of the driveway
Bulk items go out the night before or by 4 a.m. on the scheduled pickup date, at the end of the driveway where it meets the sidewalk or grass area, as close to the sidewalk as possible without blocking foot traffic. Everything has to be bagged, boxed, bundled or otherwise contained, and bundles must be no longer than four feet and no heavier than 60 pounds.
The bulky goods collection has to be scheduled with Republic Services, with a minimum of one week of notice, and the city page asks residents to allow two weeks. The pickup happens on your regular collection day, it is once per calendar year, and the office should be told at least one business day ahead to cancel or reschedule.
Use a permitted, accessible outdoor spot. Arrange the move out of your home, keep shared access clear and follow your confirmation’s readiness instructions. Check with your building about access or staging limits before booking.
A household with one or two large items such as a couch, mattress, appliance or television, plus up to two cubic yards of contained material, that can wait for a scheduled pickup.

Two bulky items, each at or under 200 pounds, plus up to two cubic yards or 12 containers of material. Vehicles, vehicle parts and batteries, motorcycles, dirt, rock, stucco, concrete, treated wood, hot ashes, animal waste, poison oak, microwaves, commercial refrigerators and freezers, toxic substances and paint, other electronic waste, and propane or pressurized tanks are refused.
A household with smaller electronic waste that the bulky collection refuses, or with a working device that can be donated instead.

Events run twice a year only, and the drop-off locations set their own terms, hours and charges, so a device that cannot wait should go to one of the listed drop-off sites or to the hauler's office for a fee.
Daly City residents mostly do not have to haul anything, because the bulky goods collection comes to the curb once a year. Proof of residency is required for drop-offs, the office must be called before any electronic waste is dropped off, button and lithium batteries have to be taped individually and never taped together, and no vehicle batteries are accepted. Confirm what the office will take before driving over.
