The local disposal guide
Daly City contracts its waste service to Republic Services, which handles garbage, recycling and organics for homes and businesses. Every household gets one free bulky goods collection each calendar year, scheduled in advance, and that is the city route for furniture, appliances, mattresses, televisions and monitors, and up to four rimless tires. Construction material, microwaves, commercial refrigeration, hazardous waste and other electronic waste do not belong in that load, and the city runs free electronic waste events twice a year plus a list of drop-off sites for everything else.

Concrete, dirt, rock, stucco and treated wood are refused by the bulky collection, and the city requires permitted projects to divert construction and demolition debris under its recycling ordinance instead.
Exercise equipment is not named on the flyer's acceptable or refused lists, so a treadmill or weight machine has to be confirmed with the hauler before it goes out with the annual bulky collection.
