Treadmill, walking pad or commercial model?
Household treadmill includes folding home models with a tall console. Choose Walking pad for a compact under-desk model, or Commercial treadmill for a large gym machine. All equipment opens those choices.
An exercise bike, elliptical or rower
Spin, upright, recumbent and air bikes all use Exercise bike, including Peloton and other brands. One elliptical includes its connected base, handles and pedals. Rowing machines and Pilates reformers have their own choices.
Weights, racks and benches
Add together the pounds of loose dumbbells, kettlebells, plates and barbells. Free weights are priced in 10 lb units, rounding the combined weight up. For example, 25 lb uses three units. Add a stand, rack or bench separately if it is going too.

Exercise equipment is not named on the flyer's acceptable or refused lists, so a treadmill or weight machine has to be confirmed with the hauler before it goes out with the annual bulky collection.

A machine that counts as a bulky item would ride the one free annual collection, but the flyer does not name exercise equipment, so call Republic Services at (650) 756-1130 and confirm the piece when you schedule.
When & how
Ask when you schedule the annual collection, then set the machine out on your regular collection day, the night before or by 4 a.m., if it is approved.
Get it ready
Take off loose weights and accessories, keep each piece at or under 200 pounds, and remove the console or battery pack so the electronics can be routed separately.
Out the night before or by 4 a.m. at the end of the driveway
Bulk items go out the night before or by 4 a.m. on the scheduled pickup date, at the end of the driveway where it meets the sidewalk or grass area, as close to the sidewalk as possible without blocking foot traffic. Everything has to be bagged, boxed, bundled or otherwise contained, and bundles must be no longer than four feet and no heavier than 60 pounds.
The bulky goods collection has to be scheduled with Republic Services, with a minimum of one week of notice, and the city page asks residents to allow two weeks. The pickup happens on your regular collection day, it is once per calendar year, and the office should be told at least one business day ahead to cancel or reschedule.
Use a permitted, accessible outdoor spot. Arrange the move out of your home, keep shared access clear and follow your confirmation’s readiness instructions. Check with your building about access or staging limits before booking.
A household with one or two large items such as a couch, mattress, appliance or television, plus up to two cubic yards of contained material, that can wait for a scheduled pickup.

No charge. One collection per residential account each calendar year, January through December, scheduled in advance. Additional cleanups may be available for a charge under the city approved programme guidelines.

Vehicles, vehicle parts and batteries, motorcycles, dirt, rock, stucco, concrete, treated wood, hot ashes, animal waste, poison oak, microwaves, commercial refrigerators and freezers, toxic substances and paint, other electronic waste, and propane or pressurized tanks are refused.
Daly City residents mostly do not have to haul anything, because the bulky goods collection comes to the curb once a year. For the rest, the city points to drop-off routes rather than a city transfer station: Republic Services at 1680 Edgeworth Ave takes used cooking oil, household batteries and cell phones, and up to 10 compact fluorescent lamps and five tubes a month, with proof of residency, and it takes electronic waste for a fee by phone appointment on (650) 756-1130.
