City cost & eligibility
No charge. Named appliances ride the one free bulky goods collection each calendar year per residential account, as up to two bulky items that must each stay at or under 200 pounds. A Republic Services office drop-off is available for batteries and lamps rather than for appliances.

Schedule the annual pickup with Republic Services at least a week ahead, then set the appliance out the night before or by 4 a.m. on your regular collection day.
Get it ready
Empty the appliance, secure or remove the door on anything a child could climb into, and keep it at or under 200 pounds. Keep microwaves and commercial refrigeration out of the load, because the flyer refuses them, and route hazardous material to the county household hazardous waste programme instead.
Out the night before or by 4 a.m. at the end of the driveway
Bulk items go out the night before or by 4 a.m. on the scheduled pickup date, at the end of the driveway where it meets the sidewalk or grass area, as close to the sidewalk as possible without blocking foot traffic. Everything has to be bagged, boxed, bundled or otherwise contained, and bundles must be no longer than four feet and no heavier than 60 pounds.
The bulky goods collection has to be scheduled with Republic Services, with a minimum of one week of notice, and the city page asks residents to allow two weeks. The pickup happens on your regular collection day, it is once per calendar year, and the office should be told at least one business day ahead to cancel or reschedule.
