Accepted with preparation
An appliance is one of the large items the on call cleanup collects, so a washer, dryer or refrigerator leaves on the same free appointment as a sofa or a mattress. Household batteries and other hazardous items go on the cart lid or to a facility instead, because the cleanup cannot take them.
City cost & eligibility
No charge. Up to two cleanups a year at no charge for eligible single-family homes, subject to review and availability, with two large items allowed per cleanup; special handling fees may apply to items that need special handling.
When & how
Book the cleanup by form or phone at least two business days before the service day, and name the appliance on the list.
Get it ready
Empty the unit before it goes out, keep it clear of the carts, and ask about special handling when the item may need it, because the hauler says a fee may apply in that case.
Cleanups run on the regular service day, so the request has to reach the hauler at least two business days ahead with the account name, the address and a list of everything to be set out. Loose garbage is never collected, wood pieces and carpet rolls have to be bundled or tied to four feet or less, pressure treated wood is refused, and only the items a customer service representative confirms will be taken.

No charge. Up to two cleanups a year at no charge for eligible single-family homes, subject to review and availability, each taking twelve bags of garbage, or six bags plus one large item, or two large items.

Loose garbage, hazardous waste, electronic waste, construction and landscaping debris and cart overflow are refused, and anything not confirmed by the representative will be left behind.

A household with a self-hauled load of trash, construction and demolition material, recyclables, electronics or the hazardous items the facility accepts.
Cost & conditions
The facility weighs each load on certified scales and prices it at the gate, while some hazardous items carry no added charge within limits and others carry fees, so confirm the material and the charge at (650) 589-4020 before loading.
Arrange it
Drive to 500 East Jamie Court, check in at the scale house, unload where staff direct, and weigh out to settle the charge, with no appointment needed.
Cleaning fluids, fertilizers, pesticides, photo chemicals and pool chemicals are not accepted, and hazardous items have their own limits, such as ten gallons of paint, antifreeze or motor oil and ten oil filters.

Yes. Dropcurb pickup is separate from buying or installing a replacement, so you can book removal on its own. Select the old appliance, choose a pickup day and arrange for it to be disconnected and accessible outside. If your new delivery is still ahead, confirm the retailer’s haul-away arrangements before booking a separate pickup.
