Televisions and computer monitors are named on the city's bulky waste list, with the requirement that the resident flags them when booking the pickup, and the residential service also includes a curbside e-waste pickup by appointment through Republic Services. Get it ready
Wipe or factory reset anything that stores personal data before it leaves the house, flag televisions and monitors when the bulky pickup is booked, and keep batteries and hazardous material out of the load because the center handles those separately.
A bulky pile goes out on the appointment day, not before
The pile goes in front of the residence on the same side of the street, no more than 24 hours before the appointment, because the city warns that setting material out sooner can bring a citation for illegal dumping and that this includes material strangers add to the pile. The maximum is 7 by 6 by 4 feet, or five cubic yards, and a resident who expects more should say so when booking so the extra can be priced instead of left behind.
The Special Waste Collection Center is for Elk Grove residents only and is open Saturday through Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. A resident may bring one truck-size load a month of hard-to-recycle material at no additional charge, and the load has to arrive in a privately owned vehicle with no business markings, because business and contractor waste is refused. The recycling area and reuse room allow ten items a month for each household.
