Three parts. Choose only the ones going.
Mattress
Choose twin, full, queen or king / California king. The mattress choice covers the mattress itself. A topper is a different item.
Box spring or foundation
Add the non-powered support beneath the mattress separately. Choose its size. If you have a split foundation, send a photo so we can help you count it.
Frame or adjustable base
Choose the frame that matches yours. A powered adjustable base has its own option. Include these only if they are leaving with the mattress.

Items do not need to be outside when you book. If your building allows only a short access window, contact us before booking so we can agree on a workable plan.
Your place. One easy pickup plan.
A house, a condo or an apartment. Choose an accessible outdoor spot that works for your property. You arrange the move outside; we take it from there.
If a new mattress is arriving, check whether your retailer is taking the old one. If you need Dropcurb, choose a day when you can have it outside. A delivery window and a pickup day are different arrangements.
2
Arrange the trip outside.
Plan for doorways, elevators and interior stairs before pickup day. You arrange any indoor carrying. Use a permitted outdoor location and keep entrances and the walking path open.
3
Make the right mattress easy to find.
Follow the readiness instructions in your confirmation. Add a location photo and clear access notes so your hauler can identify exactly what is going.
You’re in the loop. Until it’s gone.
Confirmation when you book. A heads-up before arrival. Photos when it’s done.
A mattress is not named on the hauler's bulky list, which names furniture but never a bed. California law instead gives the household a take-back right from the retailer that delivers a new mattress and free drop-off at participating mattress recycling locations, so the local route has to be confirmed.
City cost & eligibility
No city or hauler page publishes a mattress price for Escondido. A mattress taken on the bulky item route would carry that route's per item charge, and a unit dropped at a participating mattress recycling location carries no charge under the state program, so confirm with Escondido Disposal at 760-745-3203 before the unit leaves the house.
When & how
Ask the hauler when the next bulky item day can be booked, and if the mattress is going to a recycling site instead, check the participating location before hauling because some locations limit units or ask for an appointment.
Get it ready
Keep the mattress dry, bagged or wrapped so it stays intact for handling, and keep it out of the trash and recycling carts. When a new mattress is being delivered, ask the retailer to take the old one, because state law requires the retailer to offer that at no additional cost, though the pickup window can run up to 30 days.
Use a permitted, accessible outdoor spot. Arrange the move out of your home, keep shared access clear and follow your confirmation’s readiness instructions. Check with your building about access or staging limits before booking.
Use the mattress retailer take back or a recycling drop off
A household replacing a mattress or clearing one out without buying a new one.
Cost & conditions
No charge. California law requires a retailer delivering a new mattress to offer to take the old one at no additional cost, and participating mattress recycling locations accept units free, though delivery or setup fees for the new product still apply and a location may limit units.
Arrange it
Ask the delivering retailer for the take back when the new mattress is ordered, or use the mattress recycling program's location search and call the site before hauling the unit.
A retailer has up to 30 days to collect the old mattress and may refuse a unit that poses a health or safety risk. The program is not the same as the city bulky pickup, so a mattress on the curb without an arrangement can be refused.

Before you book
A few things worth knowing.
Mattress removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Escondido.
How much does mattress removal cost in Escondido?+
The price depends on the mattress size you choose. A queen mattress is $99 as the first item and $30 as an additional item. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Add any box spring or frame separately, then review your total and any applicable tax before payment.
Can I book same-day mattress pickup in Escondido?+
Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates shown at checkout. Have the mattress outside and accessible according to your confirmation. Your booking is for a day rather than an exact arrival time, and we text you when your hauler is on the way.
Is my box spring or bed frame included in mattress removal?+
The mattress price covers the mattress only. Add your box spring, bed frame or adjustable base separately if those are going too. Choose the size and type that match each item. The combined price appears before booking.
Will you carry my mattress downstairs or out of my apartment?+
Dropcurb starts outside. You arrange to move the mattress out of your apartment and down interior stairs before pickup. We load it and take it away from an accessible outdoor spot. Check your building’s access rules before arranging the move outside.
Can you pick up my old mattress when my new one arrives?+
You can choose an offered pickup day around your replacement delivery. First check whether the retailer already includes old-mattress removal, and arrange who will bring it outside if needed. Dropcurb books a pickup day, not the retailer’s delivery window. Contact us before booking if access is limited to a short time.
Where does a mattress go in Escondido?+
Start with the state program: a retailer delivering a new mattress has to offer to take the old one back at no additional cost, and participating mattress recycling locations take a unit free. The hauler's bulky list names furniture but never a mattress, so the paid bulky pickup is not a confirmed route and the arrangement should be confirmed with Escondido Disposal first.Official guidance
What if I am not buying a new mattress?+
The retailer take back only applies when a new mattress is delivered, so without a purchase the route is one of the participating mattress recycling drop off locations, which take a unit at no additional cost. Check the location search, call the site first because some locations limit units or ask for an appointment, and do not leave the mattress at the curb expecting the weekly truck.Official guidance
