Treadmill, walking pad or commercial model?
Household treadmill includes folding home models with a tall console. Choose Walking pad for a compact under-desk model, or Commercial treadmill for a large gym machine. All equipment opens those choices.
An exercise bike, elliptical or rower
Spin, upright, recumbent and air bikes all use Exercise bike, including Peloton and other brands. One elliptical includes its connected base, handles and pedals. Rowing machines and Pilates reformers have their own choices.
Weights, racks and benches
Add together the pounds of loose dumbbells, kettlebells, plates and barbells. Free weights are priced in 10 lb units, rounding the combined weight up. For example, 25 lb uses three units. Add a stand, rack or bench separately if it is going too.

No published rate covers an exercise machine and the city does not name the category, so confirm acceptance with the Waste and Recycling Division at 916-461-6730 before the machine goes to the curb. If it is accepted it uses one of the three bulky waste appointments included each calendar year.

Get it ready
Take the machine down as far as it will come apart, keep the loose weights and parts with it, and keep the whole pile inside the five cubic yard allowance. Heavy metal items such as an engine block are refused, so ask before assuming a weighted machine qualifies.
Use a permitted, accessible outdoor spot. Arrange the move out of your home, keep shared access clear and follow your confirmation’s readiness instructions. Check with your building about access or staging limits before booking.
A single-family household with furniture, a mattress, an appliance, yard waste, metal, a toilet, glass or up to five tires to clear.
Cost & conditions
No charge. Three appointments a calendar year, with up to five cubic yards per appointment, are included for a single-family residence whose solid waste account is current.
Arrange it
Book online or call 916-461-6730, put the pile on the edge of the street by 6 a.m. on the appointment day, and separate yard waste and wood from metals and appliances.
Cardboard, construction material, dirt and sod, liquids, heavy metal items, household hazardous waste and electronic waste are refused, and anything set out before the 24 hour mark can be treated as a code violation.

Dropcurb pickup starts outside. Arrange indoor carrying, stairs and any dismantling needed to get your equipment out before pickup. Check the moving instructions for your exact model and arrange suitable help. We load and haul away the equipment from an accessible outdoor spot.
Which option covers a Peloton, spin bike or recumbent bike?+
Choose Exercise bike for one stationary bike, including spin, upright, recumbent and air bikes. Peloton and other brands use the same stationary-bike choice. A treadmill, walking pad and outdoor bicycle are different items, so select their matching options.
How do I book free weights, a weight rack or a bench?+

The city's rate table states that the residential collection rates include the garbage, recycling and organics cans along with household hazardous waste collection and bulky waste service, and it lists a separate SB 1383 charge for all residential accounts. Do apartments and businesses get the same bulky service?+

How does the household hazardous waste pickup work?+
Book a Door 2 Door pickup online or at 916-461-6730 for a Monday, Wednesday or Friday, and leave the material at the bottom of the driveway rather than next to the house, on the sidewalk, in the parkway or in the street. Per pickup limits are five gallons of antifreeze, five gallons of used motor oil, ten one-gallon cans and two five-gallon pails of paint, with other household hazardous waste not over five gallons or 50 pounds plus 125 pounds of universal waste.Official guidance
Where does cardboard go now?+
Cardboard is no longer accepted in the bulky waste program. Flatten clean cardboard and take it to one of the community recycling bins, which the city lists at the Andy Morin Sports Complex with 24 hour access and at Folsom City Hall, Folsom Middle School and the Folsom Historic District. Will Folsom take tires with bulky waste?+
Yes, up to five tires per bulky waste appointment, as long as each one is 40 inches in diameter or smaller. A cement-filled tire is refused, and Sacramento County also takes up to four passenger vehicle or light truck tires with rims per day from residents at no charge.Official guidance
