Match your item

Construction cleanup starts with the right items.

We currently accept the doors, toilets and bathroom vanities listed here, already detached and ready outside. Choose each item separately. Mixed drywall, tile, concrete, lumber and demolition rubble are not accepted, including in bags.

Doors

Count each detached door panel separately. Have it removed from its hinges before pickup. A whole installed doorway or garage door is not the same item.

Toilets

Choose Toilet for an ordinary household toilet that has already been disconnected, drained and moved outside. Text a photo before booking if yours is broken or has loose sharp pieces.

Bathroom vanities

Choose the small, standard or large bathroom vanity that matches your sink cabinet. A makeup table has a separate choice. Plumbing disconnection and removal from the wall happen before pickup.

  1. Arrange the removal work

Have the fixture safely detached and any plumbing or electrical connections handled by an appropriate professional. We do not remove installed fixtures or perform demolition.

  2. Keep the booked items separate

Have the fixtures empty and ready at ground level. Keep them apart from rubble, loose renovation materials, tools and anything you want to keep.

  3. Show the outdoor handoff

Use a permitted outdoor spot with a clear path. Add a location photo and notes on your order page so the right entrance and the right items are easy to identify.

Construction and demolition debris

Special rules apply

Construction and demolition debris is refused by the free curbside bulky programme, so a renovation load goes to the San Martin Transfer Station, which takes construction material for a fee but refuses dirt, rock, concrete and brick.

City cost & eligibility
Recology publishes no rate for construction and demolition loads at San Martin, only that they are accepted for a fee, so the price is confirmed with the station at 408.842.3358 before a load is built.
When & how
Deliver during the station's open days, Tuesday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and leave Sunday and Monday out because the gate is closed.
Get it ready
Keep dirt, rock, concrete and brick out of the load, because San Martin refuses them, and keep treated wood out as well, since treated wood waste goes only to California landfills authorised to accept it. Construction material never goes out with the free curbside bulky collection, which refuses the whole category.

The handoff matters

Right item.
Right place.

The county hazardous waste programme has its own limits

Appointments are required for every household hazardous waste drop-off, and the county programme will not accept hazardous waste in containers larger than five gallons, nor radioactive waste, ammunition or explosives. The city's own pages are the place to start for what is hazardous in the first place: paint, pesticides, cleaners, fuels, batteries, bulbs and electronics are all in that category.

Food scraps and yard trimmings go in the green organics cart

Organics, recycling and garbage carts are all collected weekly. Food scraps, food-soiled paper such as greasy pizza boxes, napkins and uncoated paper plates, and yard trimmings such as leaves, grass clippings and branches go in the 96-gallon green organics cart, with paper rather than plastic used to collect food scraps, and oleander, poison oak and palm trees are not accepted in that cart.

For your Dropcurb pickup

Use a permitted, accessible outdoor spot. Arrange the move out of your home, keep shared access clear and follow your confirmation’s readiness instructions. Check with your building about access or staging limits before booking.

City of Gilroy Public Works and Recology South Valley

Self-haul to the San Martin Transfer Station

A household or small business with appliances, furniture, yard debris, construction material or household garbage that did not fit a curbside collection.

Cost & conditions
Recyclables are five dollars per cubic yard for non-Recology customers and free for Recology customers with proof of billing, while appliances, furniture, construction material, yard debris and household garbage are accepted for a fee with no published rate, so the price is confirmed at 408.842.3358 before the load is built.
Arrange it
Drive to 14070 Llagas Avenue in San Martin on a Tuesday to Saturday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., and bring proof of Recology billing if the load contains recyclables.

Closed Sunday and Monday. The station refuses household hazardous waste entirely and refuses treated wood, and construction material has to arrive without dirt, rock, concrete or brick and without being mixed into garbage or plastic bags.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Gilroy's self-haul outlet is the San Martin Transfer Station at 14070 Llagas Avenue, open Tuesday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and closed Sunday and Monday. Recyclables are free for Recology customers who show proof of billing and five dollars per cubic yard for everyone else, covering aluminium and tin cans, cardboard, glass bottles and jars, mixed paper and cartons, with foamed polystyrene and packaging foam excluded from recycling. Appliances, furniture, brush and yard waste, construction and demolition debris, household garbage and untreated unpainted wood are accepted for a fee, with yard debris barred from plastic bags and from mixed loads, and construction material barred from carrying dirt, rock, concrete or brick. The station refuses household hazardous waste, which goes instead to the Santa Clara County programme that Gilroy residents can book free by appointment at 408-299-7300, and it refuses treated wood, which only authorised California landfills may take. Most Gilroy households never need the transfer station at all: two free curbside bulky item collections a year cover two large items or twelve bags of bundled material each time, and alkaline batteries can simply be bagged on top of the recycling cart. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Construction debris removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Gilroy.

How much does construction debris removal cost in Gilroy?

Pricing is per accepted item. A detached door is $99 as a single item, an ordinary toilet is $79, and a small bathroom vanity is $99. Larger vanities have their own choices. Select the listed items to see the exact combined price. These prices do not cover mixed rubble or loose building materials. Loading, transportation and disposal are included; applicable sales tax appears before payment.

Can I get same-day toilet or vanity pickup in Gilroy?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup, where available. Checkout shows the dates you can choose. Arrange disconnection, removal and the move outside first, then have the fixture ready by the time in your confirmation. We text you before arrival and provide pickup photos when it is done.

Will you disconnect a sink or take a door off its hinges?

The fixture must already be detached, disconnected and accessible outside at ground level. Arrange plumbing, electrical work, removal from walls or hinges, and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb handles loading and haul-away from your outdoor pickup spot.

Can I add bags of drywall, tile or other demolition waste?

Mixed drywall, tile, concrete, lumber and demolition rubble are not accepted. This page offers pickup for the listed doors, toilets and bathroom vanities that are already removed. Do not book loose building materials as household trash bags or as an extra item. Arrange suitable disposal for those materials with your contractor or a debris specialist.

Can a door, toilet and vanity go in the same pickup?

Yes. Add each listed fixture separately and choose the correct vanity size. Each detached door panel counts as one item. The combined price appears before you book. Keep the fixtures together outside, separate from anything staying, and add a location photo on your order page.

Can Gilroy take construction debris from a kitchen remodel?

Not on the free curbside bulky collection, which lists construction and demolition debris among the items it refuses. The San Martin Transfer Station at 14070 Llagas Avenue takes construction material for a fee on Tuesday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., but it refuses dirt, rock, concrete and brick, and treated wood has to go to an authorised landfill.Official guidance

Recology South Valley under the city's franchise agreement, collecting organics, recycling and garbage carts weekly, with service and rates based on the size of the garbage cart and bulky collections booked at 408.842.3358. Household hazardous waste goes to the county programme by appointment, and construction material goes to the San Martin Transfer Station for a fee.Official guidance

What goes in the green organics cart?

Food scraps, food-soiled paper such as greasy pizza boxes, napkins and uncoated paper plates, and yard trimmings such as leaves, grass clippings and branches, all in the 96-gallon green cart collected weekly with the recycling and garbage carts.
