A few pieces, one pickup

Your room has changed. The old furniture can go.

The desk you no longer use. The dresser that doesn’t fit the new layout. The chairs left over after a move. Choose the pieces you’re done with and give them a pickup day, without arranging a quote visit.

Different pieces. One clear total.

Add each furniture item and its quantity. See the combined price before you pay, with loading, transportation and disposal included.

Choose each piece

A table and four chairs are five items.

You don’t need to guess how much space your furniture fills in a truck. Match each piece to the catalog, then add its quantity. Your total updates as you go.

Tables and chairs

Choose the table, then add each chair separately. Coffee tables, side tables and dining tables have their own options. A large or substantially heavy table has a different choice.

Dressers and mirrors

Match the dresser’s overall size. Add a separate dresser mirror as its own item if it is leaving too. Empty drawers and keep the belongings you want before moving the dresser outside.

Desks and bookshelves

Choose by construction, not height alone. A basic desk is different from a heavy desk with a substantial body. A tall, lightweight bookcase can still be a standard bookshelf. Empty it first.

Count the furniture you want removed and empty drawers, shelves and cabinets. Add any other items to the booking instead of leaving an unlisted pile beside the furniture.

You handle indoor carrying and any disassembly needed to get the furniture through your home. Plan for doorways, interior stairs and building access before pickup day.

  3. Show exactly what goes.

Couches, furniture and bulky items

Accepted with preparation

Furniture is one of the two item types the free curbside bulky collection takes, and each collection lets a household set out two such items or up to twelve 32-gallon bags of bagged, boxed or bundled material.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Two free curbside bulky item collections per calendar year for Gilroy residential customers with cart service, either as two items such as furniture or as up to twelve 32-gallon bags of bagged, boxed or bundled garbage.
When & how
Book the collection at 408.842.3358 and leave the furniture at the curb by 6 a.m. on the appointment day. Cancel at least one business day ahead if the plan changes, and note that unused collections do not carry into the next year.
Get it ready
Keep every piece under six feet long, under 200 pounds and light enough for one person to handle, because the crew is not required to take anything larger. Keep liquids, dirt, rock, concrete, asphalt, tires, treated wood, construction debris, large mirrors and large glass objects out of the load, since the programme refuses each of them.

The handoff matters

Right item.
Right place.

Each free bulky collection is bags or items, never a mix

Book the collection at 408.842.3358 and choose one option. Option one is up to twelve 32-gallon bags of garbage, all bagged, boxed or bundled with nothing loose, which is about two cubic yards or a pile three feet by six feet by three feet. Option two is two items such as appliances, furniture or electronic waste, with a mattress and box spring set counting as one item, and each item has to be under six feet long, under 200 pounds and manageable by one person.

Curbside by 6 a.m. and cancel a day ahead or lose the pickup

Bulky items have to be at the curb by 6 a.m. on the scheduled collection day, and a household that is not out before the truck arrives forfeits that free collection. A cancellation has to reach customer service at least one business day before the appointment, unused collections do not roll over into the next calendar year, the account must be current rather than past due, and the programme covers residential customers inside the city of Gilroy, with multi-family properties arranging collections through the owner or manager.

Food scraps and yard trimmings go in the green organics cart

Organics, recycling and garbage carts are all collected weekly. Food scraps, food-soiled paper such as greasy pizza boxes, napkins and uncoated paper plates, and yard trimmings such as leaves, grass clippings and branches go in the 96-gallon green organics cart, with paper rather than plastic used to collect food scraps, and oleander, poison oak and palm trees are not accepted in that cart.

Self-haul to the San Martin Transfer Station

A household or small business with appliances, furniture, yard debris, construction material or household garbage that did not fit a curbside collection.

Cost & conditions
Recyclables are five dollars per cubic yard for non-Recology customers and free for Recology customers with proof of billing, while appliances, furniture, construction material, yard debris and household garbage are accepted for a fee with no published rate, so the price is confirmed at 408.842.3358 before the load is built.
Arrange it
Drive to 14070 Llagas Avenue in San Martin on a Tuesday to Saturday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., and bring proof of Recology billing if the load contains recyclables.

Closed Sunday and Monday. The station refuses household hazardous waste entirely and refuses treated wood, and construction material has to arrive without dirt, rock, concrete or brick and without being mixed into garbage or plastic bags.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Gilroy's self-haul outlet is the San Martin Transfer Station at 14070 Llagas Avenue, open Tuesday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and closed Sunday and Monday. Recyclables are free for Recology customers who show proof of billing and five dollars per cubic yard for everyone else, covering aluminium and tin cans, cardboard, glass bottles and jars, mixed paper and cartons, with foamed polystyrene and packaging foam excluded from recycling. Appliances, furniture, brush and yard waste, construction and demolition debris, household garbage and untreated unpainted wood are accepted for a fee, with yard debris barred from plastic bags and from mixed loads, and construction material barred from carrying dirt, rock, concrete or brick. The station refuses household hazardous waste, which goes instead to the Santa Clara County programme that Gilroy residents can book free by appointment at 408-299-7300, and it refuses treated wood, which only authorised California landfills may take. Most Gilroy households never need the transfer station at all: two free curbside bulky item collections a year cover two large items or twelve bags of bundled material each time, and alkaline batteries can simply be bagged on top of the recycling cart. How much does furniture removal cost in Gilroy?

Choose the type and size of each piece to see its price. For example, a medium dresser is $79 as the first item or $29 as an additional item. Your total starts with the highest first-item price in your selection, then uses the additional-item price for every other item. Review the complete total and any applicable tax before payment.

Dropcurb starts outside. You arrange indoor carrying, including any interior stairs or elevator trip. We load and take away the furniture from an accessible outdoor location. Check your building’s rules and plan the route out before booking.

Can you take several different furniture items in one pickup?

Yes. Add each piece and its quantity to one booking. A dining table and four chairs are five items; a separate mirror is not included with a dresser. You can mix eligible items from different rooms and review their combined total before paying.

Do I need to take furniture apart before pickup?

You arrange any disassembly needed to move the furniture out of your home and into an accessible outdoor pickup spot. Dropcurb does not provide indoor disassembly or carrying. If you are unsure which catalog choice matches a dismantled or unusual piece, send a photo and ask before booking.
