  1. Check what your delivery includes.

If a new mattress is arriving, check whether your retailer is taking the old one. If you need Dropcurb, choose a day when you can have it outside. A delivery window and a pickup day are different arrangements.

  2. Arrange the trip outside.

Plan for doorways, elevators and interior stairs before pickup day. You arrange any indoor carrying. Use a permitted outdoor location and keep entrances and the walking path open.

  3. Make the right mattress easy to find.

Follow the readiness instructions in your confirmation. Add a location photo and clear access notes so your hauler can identify exactly what is going.

Mattresses and box springs

Accepted with preparation

A mattress goes out on one of the two free curbside bulky collections a Gilroy household gets each calendar year, and Recology counts a mattress and box spring set as a single item in the two-item option.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Two free curbside bulky item collections per calendar year for Gilroy residential customers with cart service, with a mattress and box spring set counting as one of the two items allowed in the two-item option.
When & how
Call Recology South Valley at 408.842.3358 to book one of the two collections, then have the mattress at the curb by 6 a.m. on the scheduled day. Cancel at least one business day before the appointment, because a household that is not curbside when the truck arrives forfeits that free collection.
Get it ready
Keep the set dry and under the programme limits: each item has to be less than six feet long and manageable by one person to lift, and the whole load stays under 200 pounds per item. Unused collections do not roll over to the next year, so a household that wants the pickup should use it within the calendar year it is available.

The handoff matters

Right item.
Right place.

Each free bulky collection is bags or items, never a mix

Book the collection at 408.842.3358 and choose one option. Option one is up to twelve 32-gallon bags of garbage, all bagged, boxed or bundled with nothing loose, which is about two cubic yards or a pile three feet by six feet by three feet. Option two is two items such as appliances, furniture or electronic waste, with a mattress and box spring set counting as one item, and each item has to be under six feet long, under 200 pounds and manageable by one person.

Curbside by 6 a.m. and cancel a day ahead or lose the pickup

Bulky items have to be at the curb by 6 a.m. on the scheduled collection day, and a household that is not out before the truck arrives forfeits that free collection. A cancellation has to reach customer service at least one business day before the appointment, unused collections do not roll over into the next calendar year, the account must be current rather than past due, and the programme covers residential customers inside the city of Gilroy, with multi-family properties arranging collections through the owner or manager.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Gilroy's self-haul outlet is the San Martin Transfer Station at 14070 Llagas Avenue, open Tuesday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and closed Sunday and Monday. Recyclables are free for Recology customers who show proof of billing and five dollars per cubic yard for everyone else, covering aluminium and tin cans, cardboard, glass bottles and jars, mixed paper and cartons, with foamed polystyrene and packaging foam excluded from recycling. Appliances, furniture, brush and yard waste, construction and demolition debris, household garbage and untreated unpainted wood are accepted for a fee, with yard debris barred from plastic bags and from mixed loads, and construction material barred from carrying dirt, rock, concrete or brick. The station refuses household hazardous waste, which goes instead to the Santa Clara County programme that Gilroy residents can book free by appointment at 408-299-7300, and it refuses treated wood, which only authorised California landfills may take. Most Gilroy households never need the transfer station at all: two free curbside bulky item collections a year cover two large items or twelve bags of bundled material each time, and alkaline batteries can simply be bagged on top of the recycling cart. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Mattress removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Gilroy.

How much does mattress removal cost in Gilroy?

The price depends on the mattress size you choose. A queen mattress is $99 as the first item and $30 as an additional item. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Add any box spring or frame separately, then review your total and any applicable tax before payment.

Can I book same-day mattress pickup in Gilroy?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates shown at checkout. Have the mattress outside and accessible according to your confirmation. Your booking is for a day rather than an exact arrival time, and we text you when your hauler is on the way.

Is my box spring or bed frame included in mattress removal?

The mattress price covers the mattress only. Add your box spring, bed frame or adjustable base separately if those are going too. Choose the size and type that match each item. The combined price appears before booking.

Will you carry my mattress downstairs or out of my apartment?

Dropcurb starts outside. You arrange to move the mattress out of your apartment and down interior stairs before pickup. We load it and take it away from an accessible outdoor spot. Check your building’s access rules before arranging the move outside.

Can you pick up my old mattress when my new one arrives?

You can choose an offered pickup day around your replacement delivery. First check whether the retailer already includes old-mattress removal, and arrange who will bring it outside if needed. Dropcurb books a pickup day, not the retailer’s delivery window. Contact us before booking if access is limited to a short time.
