Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Electronics and televisions

Accepted with preparation

Electronics have two routes. The hauler names televisions, computers and computer monitors in its bulky pickup, and Los Angeles County runs a free household hazardous and electronic waste collection program with one-day events in most months and permanent centers, which also take electronics.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Free to all Los Angeles County residents at the county collection events and at the permanent centers, which the county describes as a free service. There is a limit of 15 gallons or 125 pounds of material per trip, and business electronic waste is refused.
When & how
Most collection events run on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with no appointment needed, and the permanent centers include the Antelope Valley Environmental Collection Center in Palmdale on the first and third Saturdays and the EDCO center in Signal Hill on select Saturdays. A resident may also request a bulky pickup from the hauler.
Get it ready
Pack the items in cardboard boxes, keep them in the trunk away from passengers, expect to leave the boxes behind, and stay in the car while staff unload. Keep solar panels out of the load, because the county refuses them and points residents to the manufacturer or a recycler.

The handoff matters

Right item.
Right place.

Package hazardous waste the way the county asks

At a county collection event the material goes in cardboard boxes in the trunk, away from passengers, and the boxes stay behind. Products are not mixed, each item stays in its original container unless it is labeled, like chemicals are grouped together and unlike ones separated, and containers must not leak with lids tightly sealed. Staff remove the material while the resident stays in the car, and a trip is limited to 15 gallons or 125 pounds.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Hacienda Heights has two self-haul routes, both run at county level. Valley Vista Services takes large household items through its bulky pickup, requested through the form on its bulky item page or by phone at 1-800-442-6454, and the published categories are appliances, furniture including mattresses and couches, electronic waste including televisions and monitors, and bundled lumber or branches under 50 pounds and less than 4 feet long. Everything else household goes to the Los Angeles County household hazardous and electronic waste program, jointly sponsored by the county and the Sanitation Districts, which is free to county residents with no appointment needed, most often on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at one-day events or at the permanent centers in Palmdale and Signal Hill. A trip is limited to 15 gallons or 125 pounds, the material travels in cardboard boxes in the trunk that stay behind, and white goods such as refrigerators and stoves, tires, trash, business waste and solar panels are refused. Construction and demolition material fits neither route and needs a private container. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Hacienda Heights.

How much does TV removal cost in Hacienda Heights?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Hacienda Heights?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

Where do televisions and computers go in Hacienda Heights?

To a Los Angeles County household hazardous and electronic waste collection event or permanent center, which are free to county residents, take electronics and need no appointment, with a limit of 15 gallons or 125 pounds per trip. The hauler also names televisions, computers and monitors in its bulky pickup category, so either route works for a household.Official guidance
