Indio's bulky item programme is free and unlimited, but the published examples name sofas, chairs and refrigerators rather than a mattress.
City cost & eligibility
The bulky item pickup is published as free with no separate mattress price, but a mattress is not named in the city's examples. Confirm the item and the collection day with Burrtec at (760) 340-2113 before it goes out.
When & how
Call Burrtec at (760) 340-2113 at least five days before your regular garbage collection day, and set the mattress out no more than 24 hours before the scheduled pickup.
Get it ready
Keep the mattress out of the trash and recycling carts and inside the four item weekly maximum. Hazardous materials such as oil based paint, car batteries and pesticides never ride this route, so separate those before the pickup.
The city ordinance does not allow garbage or garbage containers to be left at the curbside for more than 24 hours, and the same 24 hour rule applies to a bulky item or electronic waste set-out before its scheduled pickup. Keeping the curb clear also discourages illegal dumping.
Book five days ahead and keep to four items a week
Bulky item and electronic waste pickups are free and unlimited in number, but each request has to reach Burrtec at least five days before the regular garbage collection day, the material goes out no more than 24 hours before the scheduled pickup, and Burrtec collects a maximum of four items a week.
Use a permitted, accessible outdoor spot. Arrange the move out of your home, keep shared access clear and follow your confirmation’s readiness instructions. Check with your building about access or staging limits before booking.
