  1. Check what your delivery includes.

If a new mattress is arriving, check whether your retailer is taking the old one. If you need Dropcurb, choose a day when you can have it outside. A delivery window and a pickup day are different arrangements.

  2. Arrange the trip outside.

Plan for doorways, elevators and interior stairs before pickup day. You arrange any indoor carrying. Use a permitted outdoor location and keep entrances and the walking path open.

  3. Make the right mattress easy to find.

Follow the readiness instructions in your confirmation. Add a location photo and clear access notes so your hauler can identify exactly what is going.

Bulky items beyond the annual allowance

A household that has used its four free pickups or has more than four items to clear at once.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Lancaster keeps the bulky picks on the curb, so what a household actually drives is household hazardous and electronic waste. The Antelope Valley Environmental Collection Center at 1200 West City Ranch Road in Palmdale, run jointly by the Cities of Lancaster and Palmdale with CalRecycle, Los Angeles County and WM, takes household hazardous and electronic waste free from Antelope Valley residents on the first and third Saturday of each month from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with a county limit of 15 gallons or 125 pounds per trip. The same address has a reuse center where county residents pick up unused products such as household cleaners, garden care and paint free, up to five items a week. A residential account in good standing also carries two free electronic voucher visits a year to the Lancaster Landfill & Recycling Center at 600 E. Ave. F for household trash, bulky items or green waste up to one ton a visit, with identification matching the account holder at the scale house and the posted gate rate for anything beyond that. A renovation load needs a hauler container instead, because construction waste is not accepted in the trash cart. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Mattress removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Lancaster.

How much does mattress removal cost in Lancaster?

The price depends on the mattress size you choose. A queen mattress is $99 as the first item and $30 as an additional item. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Add any box spring or frame separately, then review your total and any applicable tax before payment.

Can I book same-day mattress pickup in Lancaster?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates shown at checkout. Have the mattress outside and accessible according to your confirmation. Your booking is for a day rather than an exact arrival time, and we text you when your hauler is on the way.

Is my box spring or bed frame included in mattress removal?

The mattress price covers the mattress only. Add your box spring, bed frame or adjustable base separately if those are going too. Choose the size and type that match each item. The combined price appears before booking.

Will you carry my mattress downstairs or out of my apartment?

Dropcurb starts outside. You arrange to move the mattress out of your apartment and down interior stairs before pickup. We load it and take it away from an accessible outdoor spot. Check your building’s access rules before arranging the move outside.

Can you pick up my old mattress when my new one arrives?

You can choose an offered pickup day around your replacement delivery. First check whether the retailer already includes old-mattress removal, and arrange who will bring it outside if needed. Dropcurb books a pickup day, not the retailer’s delivery window. Contact us before booking if access is limited to a short time.

What can go out on a bulky item pickup?

The City's accepted list is furniture, appliances, electronic waste, tree branches, clothing and scrap wood. Household hazardous waste such as paint, oil and batteries, along with spas, pianos, camper shells and anything that takes more than two people to handle safely, is not accepted.Official guidance

Book it at home.wm.com/Lancaster or by calling customer service at 661-947-7197, at least 48 hours before the regular service day. The City asks for the items to be listed when the pickup is scheduled so the crew knows what is going out.Official guidance

How many bulky pickups does a household get?

How do the free landfill visits work?

A Lancaster residential account in good standing gets two visits a year at no charge to the Lancaster Landfill & Recycling Center at 600 E. Ave. F.
