Everyday household garbage only. Concrete, dirt and auto parts are refused and household hazardous material cannot go in it, and the bin is on site for 24 hours.
Self hauling in Manteca runs through the city's own programmes rather than a transfer station. The quarterly District Community Clean-Up Event is the route for anything large: a couch, furniture, appliances, mattresses, electronic waste, green waste and up to nine tires per household go there free, with a utility bill and identification at the gate and the resident doing the unloading from one truck or a truck with a trailer of no more than eight feet. Day to day overflow is handled at home instead, with a sticker on an extra bag inside the three sticker yearly allowance, or with the free two cubic yard cleanup bin that stands for 24 hours and takes everyday household garbage only. Household chemicals never travel with any of that: paint, batteries, fluorescent tubes, pool chemicals and pesticides go to the San Joaquin County facility behind the Stockton Airport, free to county residents, and used sharps go to the Manteca Senior Center on Cherry Lane in a one quart red container.
