Nothing goes outside the carts except after a booking
Trash, recyclables and green waste placed outside the carts are not collected, and the city wants everything in the right cart with the lid closed. Furniture and carpet are refused in the green waste cart, hazardous waste is refused in every cart, and a load that will not fit needs a bulky pickup or one of the extra bag allowances instead.
Bulky and electronic waste pickups are booked with Waste Management at 800.423.9986 at least 24 hours before the regular service day, with a description of the items so the load is routed correctly. The items go beside the carts before 6 a.m. on the collection day, and a different truck from the usual one may make the collection. Up to four pickups a month are free.
Residents may put up to five additional bags of trash or green waste at the curb three times a year, with advance notice through Waste Management at least 24 hours before the regular collection day. Bags beyond the allowance are charged, and the city publishes no amount for them.
Tires are part of the bulky programme, with four tires per month per household booked through Waste Management at least 24 hours ahead. Tires can also go to the Badlands Landfill from residential customers only, limited to five tires a day, with a published per tire fee for passenger and light duty truck tires, no oversized or semi truck tires, and no business loads.
Waste Management collects and recycles Christmas trees for the first two weeks after Christmas on the regular collection day. Cut trees longer than six feet in half and remove tinsel, metal ornaments and metal stands. Flocked trees are collected but cannot be recycled.
