Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Televisions, monitors and electronic waste

Accepted with preparation

Pomona states that cathode ray tube products, monitors, televisions, stereo equipment, computers and cell phones cannot be disposed of at the landfill, and it routes households to Los Angeles County. The county takes household hazardous waste and electronic waste free at one-day collection events and at its permanent centers, inside a trip limit of 15 gallons or 125 pounds.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Free to Los Angeles County residents at county collection events and permanent centers, with no appointment required, inside a limit of 15 gallons or 125 pounds per trip. Business electronic waste is not accepted at these events.
When & how
Most county collection events run on a Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The permanent centers keep their own windows, such as the first and third Saturday of the month at the Antelope Valley center and selected Saturdays at the Signal Hill center.
Get it ready
Pack electronics in a cardboard box, keep appliances and trash out of the load because they are refused, wipe personal data before handover, and stay in the vehicle at the event so staff can unload the trunk.

The handoff matters

Right item.
Right place.

What never rides a Pomona pickup or a cart

The City does not accept hazardous waste materials on the bulky item service, including paint, paint thinners, tires, hypodermic needles, motor oil, pesticides and herbicides. The hauler also bars automotive parts, batteries, cleaning products, construction and demolition waste, fluorescent bulbs and tubes, electronic waste, medical waste, paints and solvents, pesticides, pharmaceuticals, pool chemicals, radiological waste, sharps, thermometers, thermostats and used motor oil from every container.

Chemicals and electronics go to the county, not the landfill

Electronics are banned from the landfill, and household chemicals are taken free at county collection events and permanent centers. Bring items in a sturdy box with lids sealed, keep products in their original containers and never mix them, and note that transporting more than 15 gallons or 125 pounds of hazardous waste in a personal vehicle is illegal. Households stay in the vehicle at the event while staff unload the trunk, and containers are left behind.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Pomona routes its normal household traffic through the Athens curb collection, so the routes that matter for a self-hauler are the county ones. The Puente Hills Materials Recovery Facility at 13130 Crossroads Parkway South in the City of Industry accepts self-haul and hand loads Monday through Saturday from 4:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., closed Sunday and on major holidays, weighs every load, takes payment in cash or by card and never by cheque, requires a safety vest outside the vehicle, and inspects the load with a 30 minute unloading limit. It takes residential, commercial, industrial, construction and demolition waste plus green waste and recyclables, charges municipal solid and inert waste by the ton with a higher rate for hard to handle and bulky items, and rejects whole tires, liquids, paint and chemicals, oil, treated wood, asbestos, pharmaceuticals and e-waste. Mattresses do not need the gate because the collection site at 1371 E. Ninth Street in Pomona takes them free with a ten unit ceiling. Chemicals, paint, batteries, sharps and electronics go free to the Los Angeles County collection events and permanent centers inside a 15 gallon or 125 pound trip limit, and a household that would rather not drive can still book the four item bulky pickup, the extra pickup inside a billing cycle, or a roll-off container for a remodeling load. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Pomona.

How much does TV removal cost in Pomona?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Pomona?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

Where can a Pomona household take a television?

Not to the landfill, because the City states that cathode ray tube products, monitors, televisions and other electronics cannot be disposed of there. Los Angeles County takes household hazardous waste and electronic waste free of charge at one-day collection events, most of them on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and at permanent centers in Palmdale and Signal Hill, inside a trip limit of 15 gallons or 125 pounds.Official guidance

Where do Pomona residents take paint, batteries and old electronics?
