Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Electronics and televisions

Accepted with preparation

Electronic waste is on the accepted bulky item list, so a television, computer or small device can ride one of the three free pickups each year. Chino Hills residents can also drop electronic waste at the Public Works Service Center in Chino on the second and fourth Saturday of the month.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Free on a Chino Hills bulky pickup or at the second and fourth Saturday electronic waste drop-off at 5050 Schaefer Avenue in Chino, which accepts electronic waste, universal waste and household hazardous waste from San Bernardino County residents.
When & how
Call WM at 800-423-9986 for a pickup at least 24 hours before your regular collection day, or drive to 5050 Schaefer Avenue in Chino on the second or fourth Saturday between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. Call 909-334-3266 to verify the schedule around the fourth Saturday of December.
Get it ready
Keep televisions, monitors, computers, printers, cell phones and similar devices whole and out of the trash and recycling carts, because California rules bar these devices from the landfill. Wipe personal data before handover.

Right item.
Right place.

Book the bulky pickup before the collection day

A Chino Hills bulky pickup has to be scheduled ahead of the regular collection day: at least 24 hours ahead when it is booked by phone with WM at 800-423-9986, and at least 48 hours ahead when it is submitted through the online request form. The item also has to be too large for the regular trash cart, since the three free pickups a calendar year are for household items the cart cannot take.

Pack the hazardous waste load to the visit limits

Each visit to the Chino hazardous waste site is limited to 15 gallons or 125 pounds, and every container has to be sound, sealed, labeled and no larger than five gallons. Sharps, business waste, explosives, medical and radioactive waste, yard waste, refrigerators and air conditioning units, large appliances, furniture, reactives and asbestos are refused. The site runs on the second and fourth Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and closes on the fourth Saturday of December.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Chino Hills residents have a nearby drop-off for the material the curbside route will not take. The City of Chino Public Works Service Center at 5050 Schaefer Avenue in Chino accepts household hazardous waste, universal waste, electronic waste and tires free on the second and fourth Saturday of the month from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a 15 gallon or 125 pound visit limit in containers no larger than five gallons, no sharps and no business waste, and the site closes on the fourth Saturday of December. Other county collection centers in Ontario at 1430 South Cucamonga Avenue and at the S.B. International Airport site on East W Street take the same material on their own schedules, and the county asks residents to verify hours at 909-382-5401. Self-haulers can also drive household waste and construction material to a county disposal site such as the Mid-Valley Landfill at 2390 Alder Avenue in Rialto, which charges by weight at the gate, takes refrigerators only with no Freon left in and treated wood waste only there and in Victorville, and refuses hazardous waste, mercury and lead items, medical waste and anything longer than ten feet. Building materials still need a project answer: WM Builder's Direct supplies roll-off containers at 866-445-8298 or socalbdr@wm.com, and permitted work has to divert at least 65 percent of its debris. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Chino Hills.

How much does TV removal cost in Chino Hills?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Chino Hills?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

How does Chino Hills handle a television or computer?

Electronic waste is on the accepted bulky item list for the three free pickups a calendar year, booked at 800-423-9986, and the city also runs an electronic waste drop-off on the second and fourth Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 5050 Schaefer Avenue in Chino, reached at 909-334-3266.
