  1. Check what your delivery includes.

If a new mattress is arriving, check whether your retailer is taking the old one. If you need Dropcurb, choose a day when you can have it outside. A delivery window and a pickup day are different arrangements.

  2. Arrange the trip outside.

Plan for doorways, elevators and interior stairs before pickup day. You arrange any indoor carrying. Use a permitted outdoor location and keep entrances and the walking path open.

  3. Make the right mattress easy to find.

Follow the readiness instructions in your confirmation. Add a location photo and clear access notes so your hauler can identify exactly what is going.

Two appointments a year, booked from February 1

Residential customers receive two curbside bulky item appointments a calendar year at no additional charge, taken on the regular collection day, and appointments can be scheduled from February 1 through December 31. They do not carry over from one year to the next, extra collections can be arranged for a fee, and a tenant in a multi-family building arranges the pickup through the property manager.

What the bulky programme refuses

Liquids, sludge, dirt, rock, hot ashes, concrete, asphalt, hazardous waste, infectious waste, construction debris, demolition debris, anything longer than five feet, treated wood and items over 200 pounds are all outside the bulky item programme, and an item over 200 pounds may carry an extra fee and is not guaranteed even so. Taking it somewhere yourself?

Redwood City works through Recology San Mateo County, which collects the carts and runs the bulky item programme. A residential customer gets two bulky appointments a calendar year at no extra charge, booked from February 1 and taken on the regular collection day, and each appointment carries one of four loads: twelve 32-gallon bags under 60 pounds each, one large appliance, one bulky item such as a mattress and box spring, furniture or four tires without rims, or one electronic waste item such as a monitor, microwave or television. Construction and demolition debris, hazardous and infectious waste, liquids, dirt, rock, concrete, asphalt, treated wood, anything longer than five feet and items over 200 pounds are refused, so a renovation load needs a private container and anything hazardous goes to the free San Mateo County household hazardous waste drop-off, which takes appointments, with disposal events also hosted in Redwood City. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Mattress removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Redwood City.

How much does mattress removal cost in Redwood City?

The price depends on the mattress size you choose. A queen mattress is $99 as the first item and $30 as an additional item. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Add any box spring or frame separately, then review your total and any applicable tax before payment.

Can I book same-day mattress pickup in Redwood City?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates shown at checkout. Have the mattress outside and accessible according to your confirmation. Your booking is for a day rather than an exact arrival time, and we text you when your hauler is on the way.

Is my box spring or bed frame included in mattress removal?

The mattress price covers the mattress only. Add your box spring, bed frame or adjustable base separately if those are going too. Choose the size and type that match each item. The combined price appears before booking.

Will you carry my mattress downstairs or out of my apartment?

Dropcurb starts outside. You arrange to move the mattress out of your apartment and down interior stairs before pickup. We load it and take it away from an accessible outdoor spot. Check your building’s access rules before arranging the move outside.

Can you pick up my old mattress when my new one arrives?

You can choose an offered pickup day around your replacement delivery. First check whether the retailer already includes old-mattress removal, and arrange who will bring it outside if needed. Dropcurb books a pickup day, not the retailer’s delivery window. Contact us before booking if access is limited to a short time.
