Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

Automobile batteries have to be delivered to a certified hazardous waste center rather than set out, sharps need a one-way protection container, and paint is taken in its original container with a maximum container size.

San Clemente residents have two self haul and drop-off routes beyond the curbside program. Prima Deshecha Landfill in San Juan Capistrano takes public disposal from Orange County residents and businesses with proof of address, opens Monday through Saturday on its own schedule, closes on major holidays, and requires loads to be tarped or secured, with fees set separately by the county. The county household hazardous waste collection center at 32250 Avenida La Pata in San Juan Capistrano takes hazardous products and electronic waste free from Orange County residents between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and residents should wipe personal data before dropping off a computer or phone. There is no curbside electronics problem in San Clemente, because electronic waste also has its own free pickup category through the hauler.
