Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Televisions, computers and electronics

Accepted with preparation

Electronics are the other named category in the large item service, and the city also runs a dedicated free e-waste pickup: up to five e-waste items, five times annually. Batteries and cell phones skip the appointment entirely and ride on top of the recycling cart in a clear bag.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Free curbside e-waste collection of up to five items five times annually for Oceanside residents, booked with Waste Management at least 24 hours ahead, with household batteries and cell phones collected at no charge in a clear bag on top of the recycling cart.
When & how
Call Waste Management at (760) 439-2824 at least 24 hours before the collection day for an e-waste pickup, or set batteries and phones out in a sealed clear plastic storage bag on top of the blue recycling cart on the normal collection day, which needs no appointment.
Get it ready
Remove personal data from phones and computers before they leave the house, keep the screens whole, and never put electronics in the landfill cart, which refuses them. Fluorescent tubes and other universal waste follow the hazardous waste appointment instead of the e-waste pickup.

Book the large item pickup a day ahead, five items at a time

Call Waste Management at (760) 439-2824 at least 24 hours or one business day before the collection day to book a large item pickup, and keep the load to five items. Five collections a year are included at no charge for Oceanside residents, and additional broken or soiled items can be scheduled during the landfill weeks the city runs twice a year.

Carts out by 6 a.m. with the lids closed and two feet of clearance

Carts may go out from 4 p.m. the day before service and must be at the curb by 6 a.m. on the service day with the wheels against the curb and the handles facing away from the street. Leave two feet of clearance from parked cars, mailboxes and other carts, keep carts out from under trees and overhead obstructions, close the lid completely, stay under the weight printed on the lid, and take the carts off the street by 11 p.m. after they are serviced.

Construction waste, tires, chemicals and electronics stay out of the carts

The landfill cart refuses construction waste, auto parts, tires, household hazardous waste such as paint, oil and cleaners, medical and electronic waste and food scraps. A cart that is overloaded or contaminated gets a notice of non-collection, the resident removes the material and waits for the next collection, and an additional fee may apply, so the recycled and organic streams stay separate.

Batteries and phones ride in a clear bag on top of the recycling cart

Place cell phones and used household batteries in a clear plastic storage bag and set the bag on top of the blue recycling cart on collection day, which needs no appointment. Remove personal data from phones first, and keep batteries out of the landfill and organics carts, because batteries behave badly in collection trucks.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Oceanside is a curbside town: the landfill, recycling and organics carts run weekly and the hauler handles the bulky material too, so most households never need a drop-off trip. Large items, including furniture, appliances and electronic waste, are picked up five at a time, five times a year, at no charge, scheduled with Waste Management at (760) 439-2824 at least a day before the collection day, and broken or soiled items that exceed the allowance go out during the city's twice-yearly landfill weeks, when usable goods set out as donations go to the local Disabled American Veterans instead. Electronics have their own free pickup of up to five items five times a year, cell phones and household batteries need no appointment at all because they ride in a clear bag on top of the recycling cart, and food scraps and food-soiled paper share the weekly organics cart with green waste and end up as free compost and mulch for residents at the El Corazon Compost Facility on Oceanside Boulevard. The material that cannot go in any cart is paint, chemicals, cleaners, pesticides, medications, motor oil, antifreeze, fluorescent tubes and sharps, which travel to Waste Management's hazardous waste facility at 2880 Industry Street by appointment on one of the twice-monthly Saturdays, with a free monthly home collection for qualifying senior and disabled residents, and a rigid-container drop-off at either Oceanside Senior Center for sharps alone. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Oceanside.

How much does TV removal cost in Oceanside?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Oceanside?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

How do Oceanside televisions and computers get collected?

With a free curbside e-waste pickup: residents can schedule up to five e-waste items five times annually by calling Waste Management at (760) 439-2824 at least 24 hours before the collection day. Cell phones and used household batteries need no appointment at all, since they go in a sealed clear plastic bag on top of the blue recycling cart.Official guidance
