Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Televisions, computers and electronics

Accepted with preparation

It is illegal to put a monitor or television in the trash, and electronics are on the universal waste list that may not go in any cart. City residents drop them free at the household hazardous waste facilities in Escondido, Vista and Poway, up to five CRT units at a time, and the city runs free e-waste and shred events twice in 2026.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. City of Escondido residents, free of charge at the household hazardous waste facilities in Escondido, Vista and Poway, with a limit of five CRT units per customer and no limit on non CRT items such as computers and printers. The Escondido site is by appointment and the Vista and Poway sites are open Saturdays without one.
When & how
Book the Escondido site at 760-745-3203 for one of its two Saturday appointments each month, or use the Vista or Poway site on a Saturday without an appointment. The free e-waste and shred events run 9 a.m. to noon on June 6, 2026 and October 10, 2026 at 639 E 17th Avenue.
Get it ready
Wipe personal data before handover, keep every device out of the trash, recycling and organics carts, and bag loose batteries separately. A single television or computer monitor can also ride the paid bulky item pickup, but the free household hazardous waste route is the one built for electronics.

Universal waste never goes in a cart

Common batteries, fluorescent tubes and bulbs, electronic devices such as televisions, computers, monitors, printers, VCRs, telephones, radios and microwave ovens, mercury containing switches and gauges, and non empty aerosols may not be placed out for curbside collection or put in any bin meant for solid waste. Paint is refused as well and goes to a PaintCare retail drop off, and lithium batteries have to be kept out of the recycling cart because crushed cells start fires.

The household hazardous waste drop off is by appointment only

City residents do not pay to use it, the load is limited to 15 gallons or 125 pounds, container labels have to be legible, containers have to be sealed, products may not be mixed together, and the material travels in the trunk away from passengers and pets. Business waste, tires, explosives, radioactive material and medical waste are refused.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Escondido residents have a city drop off rather than a dump: the household hazardous waste facility at 1044 West Washington Avenue takes electronics, paint, batteries, used oil and filters, automotive batteries, pesticides, pool chemicals and other household chemicals free of charge, two Saturdays a month by appointment, with a 15 gallon or 125 pound limit, and city residents may also use the Vista and Poway sites on Saturdays without an appointment. Batteries can be dropped free at the hauler's customer service office on West Mission Avenue. Large items do not go to either of those places: furniture, stoves, water heaters, microwave ovens, scrap metal and a single television or monitor ride the paid bulky pickup, a refrigerator or air conditioner costs more because of the refrigerant, and a renovation load goes into a quoted 15 yard or 40 yard roll off box with a 10 ton weight limit. A mattress is the item to confirm, because California's take back law runs through the retailer or a participating recycling location rather than the city route. Escondido Disposal Customer Service Office

1021 W. Mission Avenue, Escondido, CA 92025

Household batteries dropped off free of charge by Escondido residents, and home generated sharps delivered in an approved sharps container.

This is the hauler's customer service office rather than a transfer station, so it takes the published battery and sharps streams rather than bulky items, construction debris or household trash. Loose lithium and other batteries are barred from every collection cart.

Office hours are published by the hauler; call 760-745-3203 before a trip.

No charge. Escondido residents dropping household batteries, which the hauler lists as free at this office, with sharps accepted under the state sharps rules in an approved container.

Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Escondido.

How much does TV removal cost in Escondido?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Escondido?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

What does it cost to get rid of a television in Escondido?

Nothing for a city resident using the household hazardous waste route, which takes televisions and monitors free with a limit of five CRT units per customer and no limit on computers and printers. The city runs free e-waste and shred events twice in 2026 as well, or one television or computer monitor can be added to a paid bulky item pickup.Official guidance

Where do old televisions, monitors and computers go?

To the free household hazardous waste route rather than the trash. City residents use the Escondido site by appointment or the Vista and Poway sites on Saturdays, with a limit of five CRT units per customer and no limit on computers and printers, and the city also runs free e-waste and shred events in June and October 2026.Official guidance

How much household hazardous waste can I bring at once?

No more than 15 gallons or 125 pounds in one trip. Labels have to be legible, containers sealed and not leaking, different products may not be mixed into one container, and the material has to travel in the trunk or another area away from passengers and pets. The program takes residential waste only and turns away business waste, tires, explosives, radioactive material and medical waste.Official guidance
