Treadmill, walking pad or commercial model?
Household treadmill includes folding home models with a tall console. Choose Walking pad for a compact under-desk model, or Commercial treadmill for a large gym machine. All equipment opens those choices.
An exercise bike, elliptical or rower
Spin, upright, recumbent and air bikes all use Exercise bike, including Peloton and other brands. One elliptical includes its connected base, handles and pedals. Rowing machines and Pilates reformers have their own choices.
Weights, racks and benches
Add together the pounds of loose dumbbells, kettlebells, plates and barbells. Free weights are priced in 10 lb units, rounding the combined weight up. For example, 25 lb uses three units. Add a stand, rack or bench separately if it is going too.

When & how
Call the City sanitation customer service line at 855-354-5623, Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The pickup happens on your scheduled refuse collection day, and it is not available while the Christmas tree recycling programme is running, so book at least three weeks before that programme starts.
Get it ready
The pickup is booked, not set out on demand: materials cannot be placed out earlier than 12 hours before the scheduled pickup, items go where recycling is collected and at least five feet from the trash and recycling containers, and anything left on private property is not collected. Small items have to be tied together or bagged, and a cancellation has to be made at least one day ahead.
The large item pickup is booked, not set out on demand
One free large item collection is available a calendar year per address, up to twenty items, and it has to be booked with the sanitation line at 855-354-5623. Materials cannot go out earlier than 12 hours before the scheduled pickup, small items must be tied or bagged, the pile goes where recycling is collected and at least five feet from the carts, and a cancellation has to be made at least a day ahead.

Which option covers a Peloton, spin bike or recumbent bike?+
Choose Exercise bike for one stationary bike, including spin, upright, recumbent and air bikes. Peloton and other brands use the same stationary-bike choice. A treadmill, walking pad and outdoor bicycle are different items, so select their matching options.
How do I book free weights, a weight rack or a bench?+
Enter the combined weight in pounds for your dumbbells, kettlebells, plates and barbells. Booking rounds that total up to the next 10 lb unit: 25 lb uses three units. Stands, racks and benches are separate items and do not include the loose weights. Add each one that is going.

What will not be taken on the large item pickup?+

Will Torrance take a mattress?+
Yes, and it is one of the items the City recycles rather than landfilling. Mattresses are accepted on the large item pickup and recycled through the Mattress Recycling Council, and the City also points out that California law requires a mattress retailer to take back the old mattress when a new one is delivered.Official guidance

What does weekly collection cost a household?+
The monthly rate depends only on the size of the trash container, and the City publishes a five year schedule of increases through July 1, 2027. The City publishes a reference list of local transfer stations open to the public, in Gardena, Long Beach, Compton, Wilmington, Downey, Signal Hill and Carson.
