Washers, dryers and other white goods

Accepted with preparation

The Front Range Landfill keeps white goods separate for recycling and names dishwashers, dryers, furnaces, hot water heaters, stoves and washers, each with its own published per unit rate.

City cost & eligibility
From $80 per white good such as a dishwasher, dryer, furnace, hot water heater, stove or washer at the Front Range Landfill, with a car load minimum of $141.00 and pickup minimums of $175.00 or $236.00. The landfill is open to the general public and lists white goods as a recycling category. A unit scheduled as a large item with Waste Connections carries the hauler's additional charge instead.
When & how
Take the unit to the Front Range Landfill at 1830 Weld County Rd 5 in Erie, open Monday through Friday 6AM to 5PM and Saturday 6AM to 2PM, or call Waste Connections at 303.288.2100 about a scheduled large item pickup.
Get it ready
Empty the unit, secure the door and remove loose cords. Keep a cooling appliance out of the load, because refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners are refused at the landfill, and never put an appliance in a cart.

Refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners

Special rules apply

A unit that holds refrigerant is refused at the Front Range Landfill, which names refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners on its unaccepted list, and Weld County also refuses appliances at its household hazardous waste facility, so the route has to be confirmed.

City cost & eligibility
No published rate covers a refrigerator, freezer or air conditioner for a Frederick address. The landfill refuses those units, the county hazardous waste facility refuses appliances, and the town routes large items through Waste Connections, so confirm the route and the charge at 303.288.2100 before the unit moves.
When & how
Call Waste Connections at 303.288.2100 to ask about a cooling appliance before it is set out or loaded, and do not take it to the Front Range Landfill or to the Weld County hazardous waste facility, because both refuse it.
Get it ready
Empty the unit and strap or tape the doors closed. Keep the unit upright where the vehicle allows it, keep it out of both carts, and ask whether the refrigerant has to be handled before the piece is collected.

Carts out by seven and nothing above the lid

Frederick carts go to the curb by 7 am on service day with at least 12 inches between containers and no personal vehicle parked within 10 feet, handles facing the house. Trash and yard clippings are bagged and tied, nothing sits above the lid, and town code requires the carts to stay covered and off the street, curb and sidewalk and concealed from public view except on collection day. The hauler observes New Year's Day, Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas with a one day delay that week.

Schedule anything that will not fit before it goes out

Items outside the container incur an additional charge and have to be called into Waste Connections at least 24 hours before the scheduled weekly pickup, with payment on the pickup day by check at the door or by card over the phone. Large items such as furniture and carpet need at least 48 hours notice and may carry their own charge, and the town says to ask the hauler for special rates on extra bags, bundles of branches and bulk items. Do not put hazardous or prohibited material in a cart, and never leave carts or items in the street outside collection day.

Tarp the load and vest up at the landfill

Every load entering the Front Range Landfill has to be covered or secured in a way that keeps debris from flying out, because under state requirements an uncovered or unsecured load is charged double. Anyone who exits the vehicle must wear a reflective safety vest, which can be bought at the landfill gate, payment is by credit or debit card, residential proof is not required unless a town free landfill day is being used, and picking or salvaging is not allowed. Special waste needs preapproval by phone before it arrives.

Waste Connections large item pickup

A Frederick household with furniture, carpet, mattresses or other large items that will not fit in the cart.

Cost & conditions
The town states that items outside the container incur an additional charge and that large item pickups may also carry one, and the hauler publishes no rate, so the amount is quoted when the pickup is scheduled at 303.288.2100.
Arrange it
Call Waste Connections at 303.288.2100 at least 48 hours before the pickup day for a large item, or at least 24 hours ahead for extra material outside the cart, and pay the day of service by check on the door or by card over the phone.

Trash has to be bagged and tied, carts must stay below the lid, hazardous items such as motor oil, tires, batteries, herbicides, pesticides and acids never go in a cart, and the town does not provide commercial trash service.

Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Appliance removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Frederick.

How much does appliance removal cost in Frederick?

A full-size household refrigerator is $109 as a single item. A washing machine is $109, and a dryer is $109. Other appliances have their own catalog prices. Choose each item to see your exact total before booking; disposal and recycling costs are included in the item price.

Can I get same-day appliance pickup in Frederick?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup, where available. Checkout shows the dates you can choose. Your pickup is scheduled for a day rather than an exact arrival appointment, and we text you before arrival. Have the appliance disconnected and ready outside by your pickup readiness time.

Can you take a washing machine and dryer in one pickup?

Yes. Add one Washing machine and one Dryer so both units are included in the price. They are separate items, even when you bought them as a set. If yours is a single combined unit or the machines still need to be unstacked, contact us before booking to confirm the scope.

Will you disconnect my appliance or carry it out?

Dropcurb picks up appliances that are already disconnected and accessible outside at ground level. Arrange uninstallation, utility disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Use a qualified professional for gas, hardwired or plumbing connections when needed. We handle loading and haul-away from the outdoor pickup spot.

Can I book if the delivery company did not take my old appliance?

Yes. Dropcurb pickup is separate from buying or installing a replacement, so you can book removal on its own. Select the old appliance, choose a pickup day and arrange for it to be disconnected and accessible outside. If your new delivery is still ahead, confirm the retailer’s haul-away arrangements before booking a separate pickup.

Which appliances does Frederick accept for recycling?

The Front Range Landfill lists white goods as a recycling category and names dishwashers, dryers, furnaces, hot water heaters, stoves and washers, each at its own per unit rate. A washer or dryer can also go out as a scheduled large item pickup through Waste Connections at 303.288.2100. Refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners are not accepted there, so those units need a different arrangement.Official guidance

Can I take a refrigerator to the Front Range Landfill?

No. Refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners are on the landfill's unaccepted list, and Weld County also lists appliances as unacceptable at its household hazardous waste facility. Call Waste Connections at 303.288.2100 to arrange the unit before it leaves the property, and never put it in a trash or recycling cart.Official guidance

Who collects trash in Frederick?

Waste Connections Denver collects residential trash and single-stream recycling under the town's exclusive contract, and customer service answers at 303.288.2100. Each household has a 96 gallon trash cart collected weekly and a 96 gallon recycling cart collected every other week, with Tuesday pickup west of I-25 and Friday pickup east of it. Extra carts are billed by the town, and the town does not provide commercial trash service.Official guidance

Where do Frederick paint, oil and batteries go?

To a Weld County household hazardous waste facility, which is free for county residents. The nearest is the South facility at 5500 Highway 52 in Dacono, open Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the North facility at 1311 North 17th Avenue in Greeley opens Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Paint, motor oil, oil filters, gasoline, antifreeze, batteries, aerosols, cleaners, pesticides and propane cylinders up to 20 pounds are accepted, containers may not exceed five gallons, and the limit is 200 pounds per household per day.Official guidance

Where do a refrigerator and a television go in Frederick?

Neither goes to the Front Range Landfill, which refuses refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners and televisions, and neither goes to the Weld County household hazardous waste facility, which refuses appliances and electronics. Call Waste Connections at 303.288.2100 to arrange the unit, and ask the same office for the electronic waste location that serves Frederick, because the company accepts televisions, monitors and towers but says acceptable items vary by location.Official guidance
