The landfill is open to the general public. The town's hauler also takes furniture on a scheduled large item pickup with at least 48 hours notice and an additional charge, and the town says to ask Waste Connections for special rates on extra bags, bundles of branches and bulk items.
When & how
Call Waste Connections at 303.288.2100 at least 48 hours before the pickup day to schedule a large item collection, or drive the piece to the Front Range Landfill at 1830 Weld County Rd 5 in Erie, open Monday through Friday 6AM to 5PM and Saturday 6AM to 2PM.
Get it ready
Bag and tie anything that goes in a cart, keep the cart lid closed, and keep the item out of the street, curb and sidewalk except on collection day, because the town code requires carts to be covered and concealed from public view. Cover or tarp any landfill load, because an uncovered or unsecured load is charged double.
Frederick carts go to the curb by 7 am on service day with at least 12 inches between containers and no personal vehicle parked within 10 feet, handles facing the house. Trash and yard clippings are bagged and tied, nothing sits above the lid, and town code requires the carts to stay covered and off the street, curb and sidewalk and concealed from public view except on collection day.
