$40 each mattress or box spring recycled at the Larimer County disposal facility, as published in the county's 2026 fee schedule. Every size of mattress and box spring is charged the same per piece fee and the piece must be dry and free of bedbugs, so a damp or infested item is refused. A Weld County household can instead put a mattress in a load covered by the free large item disposal voucher.

Take the piece to the Larimer County disposal facility during its open hours, or include it in a Weld County large item voucher load to the North Weld, Buffalo Ridge or Front Range landfill.
Get it ready
Keep the mattress dry and free of bedbugs, since the county recycles only pieces in that condition, and confirm the per piece charge before unloading.
Sort the load before arriving, because the county takes electronics at its own station, routes cooling appliances through the resource recovery area, and recycles mattresses only when they are dry and free of bedbugs. Cover and secure the load, since an uncovered load is charged double, and confirm the receiving facility and the load charge before leaving.

Cost & conditions
No charge. Weld County offers a limited number of vouchers for one free trip at no cost to the household, covering one truckload level with the bed rails up to one ton or one trailer load up to one ton, and any extra weight or volume is charged to the resident at the site.
Arrange it
Collect a voucher at the Greeley or Dacono household hazardous waste facility or at the Weld County Department of Public Health and Environment in Greeley, then use it at the North Weld Landfill in Ault, the Buffalo Ridge Landfill in Keenesburg or the Front Range Landfill in Erie. The current voucher period runs from March 2 to October 31, 2026.
This is a Weld County residents program rather than a town program, it covers one trip, and the receiving landfill sets its own accepted item rules, hours and closure days, so confirm with the landfill before loading.
Larimer County Central Diversion and Transfer Station

General waste disposal along with mattress and box spring recycling, appliance handling that includes units holding refrigerant, electronics recycling at the station inside the old landfill entrance, furniture and exercise equipment as regular waste, tires, and separate rubble, shingle and drywall loads.
Larimer County closed the landfill to disposal on August 3, 2026 and moved waste disposal to this transfer station, so confirm the site for the load. Charges are set by vehicle type or by cubic yard and an uncovered or unsecured load is charged double. Electronics are banned from Colorado landfills, cooling appliances go to the resource recovery area rather than the hazardous waste drop-off, and mattress recycling applies only to pieces that are dry and free of bedbugs.
Disposal and electronics recycling run from 8 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Saturday, and the hazardous waste drop-off is closed to the public on Wednesday. Call the 24 hour information line at 970-498-5770 or check the county page before a trip.
The county prices a load by vehicle type, with a flat fee for a car, SUV, passenger van, pickup truck or cargo van and a per cubic yard rate for a trailer or rental truck with a 2 cubic yard minimum, and it adds per item charges for mattresses, appliances, electronics and tires, so confirm the load charge before arriving at the scale.
